I think he would be a good signing for Hibernian or Aberdeen.

Would definitely prefer him to head out on another loan rather than a permanent, still think he's got something, another year of development with regular first team football at a Motherwell for instance would be hugely beneficial for him, then when he returns from that, it would be make or break at that point as to whether he has a future here as a regular striker

Kenny is too good to be loaned out. It would come back to bite us in the * if we did.We will probably go with Idah, Yamada and Kenny, with Osmand loaned out. Maeda at a push could fill in as striker if required.

    At a push?

Maeda is by far and away the best striker we have, once we sign a couple wingers over coming weeks I'm hopeful Maeda will be made striker again

Not a statement I’d really disagree with but there’s a big decision for Maeda if in any certain game he’s going to damage them more up front in thr middle, or with more freedom out on the wing he’ll punish them more. He’s the best striker for me no doubt, with Jota out though, he’s by far our best left winger and can add far more there than up front. There’s a bigger gap in quality between the backup LW eho is probably Yang, Forrest the older he gets hasn’t retained as much effectiveness on the LW that he has on the RW. Idah is closer in quality to Maeda up front than the ither options on the left.

Think there seems to be a lot of black and white thinking when it comes to Maeda up front. The period he scored 15 in 10 in starting up front, he wouldn’t ever spend 90 minutes there. We’d move him wide, Idah would go central, and that caused chaos. Suddenly there’s much different options to defend for the opposition, and to adapt, and people forget and write off at the same time Idah was on form as well, think he had 6 in 7 after a long drought. And Maeda’s 15 goals in that period he was up front or starting there, a good 6 or so was when he moved to the wing as well. It’s not one or the other, it’s options to play with and a team to adapt to.

Idah to start for me. If it doesn’t work, then you can put Maeda there, but I’d probably bring on Yamada. Who’s got a lot of the attributes that Maeda brings in the middle, not seen enough to properly judge but even if he’s the hardest of hard working strikers (and if you look at any players up top who play for Japan they all are so I think he probably will) so even if he is that, he won’t be Maeda levels and thats fine. Because he also brings power and strength, which is something Maeda doesn’t bring as much. He isn’t weak, and has tenacity but not the same sort of power.

With the options we have available to us

Never going to make it here and should never be on our bench in the first place. Literally only reason he's there is because of our abysmal recruitment. Sell.

    Miles off it.

A guy who hardly tore up the Irish league and couldn’t hit a barn door at Queen’s Park.

Works hard but no quality there at all.

Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that Johnny Kenny has signed an extension to his contract which will run until 2029.

The Irish forward joined the Celts from Sligo Rovers on a five-year deal in January 2022 before spending time on loan at Queen’s Park and Shamrock Rovers.

He scored his first Celtic goal against Aberdeen in a 5-1 victory at Pittodrie in May of this year, with that match also marking his first start for the club.

Speaking to Celtic TV after signing his new deal, Kenny spoke of his happiness at putting pen to paper on a contract extension.

“I’m delighted.” He said. “All I wanted to do was commit my future to this club and I’m delighted it’s done now.

“I feel really proud. I spoke to the manager at the start of the summer and it was a case of tying it all together.

“I like to think that I can score goals and the manager believes in me too, so that helps when I’m in and around the box, knowing that the manager backs me.

‘I want to achieve everything possible at this club. I want to play Champions League football, win every trophy available and score goals. That’s my aim.’

“It’s a proud moment and I have to thank the club for giving me this opportunity. I just want to repay them on the pitch over the next few years.

“I can only say thank you to everyone, my family, friends and the supporters for the support they’ve given me. Let’s hope for more years of success at this football club.”

Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers added: “I am really pleased that we have agreed this new contract with Johnny. He is a young player who I believe can have a big future with Celtic.

“He loves the club and is really hungry and focused on doing well for us, developing further and making an important contribution to the squad, so we look forward to working with him moving forward.”

He’ll take pelters on social media comments through absolutely no fault of his own.

If this was done against the backdrop of two or three quality signings then no one would bat an eyelid.
