    Why not?

Let them away with it and nothing will change. Chants and banners are exactly what’s needed. Let them know it’s unacceptable.

In a way only Celtic can do…we’ve signed a number of players but haven’t strengthened from where we were 6 months ago.

I've got such a weird feeling about this game.

Normally come flag day I'm full of beans and excited as * to see what we come out with on the opening day. Doesn't matter who we're facing whether it's St Mirren, Dundee Utd, Hibs, Aberdeen - if it's flag day I'm full of confidence that we'll absolutely rattle them.

But there's something about this one that just doesn't feel right. Maybe it's the fact St Mirren do give us plenty of problems these days and nearly spoiled trophy day too. Also took us to the final few minutes to beat them on trophy day back in 2023/24 as well. This isn't the simple fixture it once was.

Combine that with the fact there's such a disconnect right now between the fans and the club - particularly the board regarding the summer transfer situation. Meanwhile it's clear to see the manager is most likely out the door next summer and isn't being given the tools to be where he would want the squad to be for Sunday.

Yet on the other hand it hasn't actually been a bad pre-season performance wise. We beat Sporting Lisbon and Newcastle and managed to beat Al Ahli of Saudi on penalties too despite them having a lot of top players. Even the first half against Ajax was very good and it's probably that second 45 that's still leaving me with concerns.

The plus points will be the return of Kieran Tierney in his first competitive game at Celtic Park. Also be good to see Nygren and Shin Yamada even though I doubt he'll start.

I think we'll get the job done but it won't be that usual 3-0, 4-0. 5-0 flag day experience in my view.

Celtic 2-0 St Mirren, and they'll have their chances.

I've answered why I would find it pointless..

    They board don't care..

But, also we've signed 8 players and there's a month left of the window.. after securing another League and Cup Double last season.. what is it now 12 titles in 13.. gave a decent account in the CL last season..

We are weaker on the wings, but arguably stronger at LB, CB(if Pusey signs), CM and up front with Shin and Osmand

Yes, we all want restructuring and to be better in the transfer window and it's shambolic we dont have at least one winger in the door, but what would the banner say.. ?

'Sign a winger or get out!'

Flag day should be a celebration.. not to start disharmony..

A simple banner for me would say "Back the manager, fund the team" or an image similar to the asleep at the wheel one but with a load of dosh in a bus heading to the bank.

It's the hoarding money and penny pinching that is winding people up, especially while short changing the manager who's heavily contributed to the success you mentioned.

Seeing as we've got no wingers, and all our links are for centre backs, is it time for us to go 3-5-2

    Schmichel
    Murray CCV Inamura
    AJ McGregor Hatate Tierney
    Nygren
    Idah Maeda

With Yamada to come on for Idah after 60 minutes and make that spot his own for a high pressing Maeda Yamada front two

He has been backed though and there's still time this window to add to the 8 brought in..

We're slow and sluggish in every window that's definitely an issue but when we look at Engels and Idah he's definitely had backing..

    Its our structure/mechanism that's wrong

Just think it's a bit early for banners especially Sun, when it's about celebration..

But, equally I do understand if such a banner did appear

Kasper looking his most trim in years there. Good on him

Looking forward to it...even with the negativity surrounding signings. But as was mentioned previously....it's celtic and that's what we do. Fans dont get used to it and we are taken for granted. 4 weeks....probably sees at least 4 more in and a few out.

Agree about wrong timing and the structure.

Just feel when the manager is needing to give coded messages in the media about ambition while stories of us lowballing teams are coming out that it's red flags for what's happening behind the scenes, particularly with more resources than we've ever had.

Don't want to hijack the match thread too much mate..

Rodgers is a great coach but his signing record in both spells is more miss than hit..

We know we need a new modern approach, but is he totally absolved of any blame? How much sway does he have?

Its really difficult to know what is going on in the background.. but for me its a mixture of our thinking and structure being outdated and Rodgers himself unable to identify what we need and convince the board to part with the cash.

They must look at Idah and Engels a £20m investment and think like the rest of us the jury is out on both.

Then we have his future still in doubt too, I guess we'll find out by Sep 1st if the board want him longterm.

Don't get me wrong it's mostly the board and structure!
