Celtic's 2025/26 Summer transfer window: Stage: Petrol. Flames. Burning.

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Sgt Neppers*, Mar 16, 2025.

  1. Disappointing number of weeks without a doubt. I was really hoping that the much more favourable CL format would initiate some changes in the club. That they would recognise the opportunities presented to us by the much kinder format. The changes have come at an opportunistic time for us as well with the reserves we have available. Couple with the fact Rangers have new ownership and will be pushing out the boat to catch us, I was hoping we get a statement of intent from the club focusing on ambition and drive.

Its been lacklustre though. We seem to be very much in wait and see mode on everything. Almost a state of paralysis. Still time to change things with a few ambitious signings. But the omens dont appear good currently. A vibe that things arent functioning behind the scenes, little to no communication and a general air of confusion over what we are doing.

Things can change very quickly in football though. 2 or 3 good signings in the door would really change the mood music and give the place a lift.

When is the next fan conference? I assume it's after the window, but if not, serious questions need to be asked.

Nearly August and we've made 6 signings, one of which was a Scott Bain replacement, one a youth player and the other we knew of from January.

  5. It's been exactly 2 years since our last bad window, which was one of the worst I've ever seen. If it's a 6-year cycle, we're not due a bad window for another 4 years.

Probably this week ahead of the first game

But they’ll probably not be allowed to ask any questions

The AGM won't do much use either.

Plenty of plants to allow Lawwell to make a joke about the Huns.

The moment he had to publicly apologise a year or so back should have been when all this stopped. Criminal negligence that its allowed to continue.

  8. Seems the rumours of Desmond having to personally approve every signing of £4M and above are pretty accurate. Explains the lowballing and reluctance to go above that figure. Probably told us we're not allowed to spend over that on individual players until our CL fate is decided. Whole operation is completely *.

  9. He doesn’t have a majority share holding, why is he treated like he does??!!! He might be the biggest shareholder but still doesn’t have a majority.

  10. Disgraceful how we are determined to self sabotage after a season of progression in the CL. Absolutely disgusted with the * that run our club!!!

  14. That's * grim. Truly.

I thought there'd be a muted grumblings in Sundays game. Can't see it now. Completely mismanaged again with transfers.

The sad thing is, we aren't asking for much as a fanbase.

If we went out tomorrow and brought in Munteanu from Cluj, Breum and say Orjasaeter for example or another winger, the positivity would be off the charts and the feelgood factor back. Not to mention the fact signing those players would barely take us past what we received for Kuhn. We'd probably have a net spend with plenty left for another 2 or 3 before the end of August.

This whole toxic situation is totally avoidable with the showing of a smidgen of ambition from the club. The longer it goes without any action being taken, the worse it'll get and we need togetherness with this play off coming up.

Signing 3 players in that bracket as well, is something we as fans shouldn't even be crying out for. It should be a given! The absolute minimum, yet we make it seem like a chore.

  20. Turning down bids for Yang, Welsh and Yang just demonstrates precisely how * this window has been - we’re unable to sell these guys because we’re too short in those positions.
