I'm sure I remember Berget being an absolutely useless replacement for Samaras in the qualifiers one year and then scoring an absolute worldy against us the next.

They were causing it in Amsterdam I think and some locals reacted and it was described as a ‘pogrom’.

You'd hope so but we're going in unprepared with lack of options. * forbid Daizen rolls his ankle at the weekend or pulls a hamstring and I think we're absolutely *. We knew Jota was gone this season, most of us felt Daizen was the man to go through the middle. We knew we can't really rely on Yang or Forrest as anything more than 4th and 5th choice wingers. We're going into a huge tie with the squad completely light on quality up front. It is utterly criminal and I wouldn't be surprised if we are dumped out. We have lost our last 4 CL qualifiers and all 4 of them we went in with a shambolic transfer window where we all sensed we could be done over by teams we should be beating.

I don't know which side I'd like. Qarabag/Shkendija probably the weakest but you don't want a trip to Baku this early in the season and potentially before a Rangers game.

I'm certainly of the opinion there is a player in Yang. Most I think want him gone but he's too erratic to be relied on as a starting player at this particular point in time and the fact is we have nothing to come on to change the game. Last season we bemoaned the fact we had Yang, Idah and Forrest off the bench for us last season in big games and they weren't good enough to impact the game from there. Now we are going into a £40m game with 2 of them as starters and nobody else to impact off the bench.

Celtic’s potential Champions League opponents are coming into focus ahead of Monday’s Play-Off Round draw.

The Second Qualifying Round concluded on Wednesday night, confirming the pool of clubs that could stand between Brendan Rodgers’ side and the League Phase.

There were some shocks, with the highest-ranked unseeded side Maccabi Tel Aviv knocked out by Cypriots Pafos, and Romanian champions FCSB bested by Shkendija.

As one of the seeded teams in the Champions Path, Celtic will avoid the likes of Bodo/Glimt, Copenhagen, Ferencvaros and Red Star Belgrade.

They’ll instead come up against one of the two unseeded sides already in the Play-Off or one of three winners from pairings still to duke it out in a Third Qualifying Round tie.

All eight possible opponents included in Monday’s draw are:

    • Basel (SUI)

    • Sturm Graz (AUT)

    • Pafos (CYP) or Dynamo Kyiv (UKR)

    • Slovan Bratislava (SVK) or Kairat (KAZ)

    • Qarabag (AZE) or Shkendija (ARM)
After Maccabi Tel Aviv's exit, last year's foes Slovan Bratislava are the new highest-ranked unseeded side in the pot when it comes to UEFA coefficient.

North Macedonians Shkendija are regarded as the weakest side per their European record over the last few years, but there are no easy games here.

Every team that Celtic can face is a reigning champion of their domestic league.

Champions League Play-off Draw - Champions Path

    • Seeded: Bodo/Glimt, Copenhagen or Malmo, Red Star Belgrade or Lech Poznan, Ferencvaros or Ludogorets, Celtic.

    • Unseeded: Basel, Sturm Graz, Pafos or Dynamo Kyiv, Slovan Bratislava or Kairat, Qarabag or Shkendija.
Each two-legged tie will be played on 19/20 and 26/27 August.

Seeded status offers protection in the draw, but not the right to play the second leg at home. The order of home and away is determined by which team is drawn first in each pairing on Monday.

The winners of each tie progress to the 36-team League Phase, while the losers will parachute into the Europa League equivalent.

For Celtic, qualification could be worth more than £40m once UEFA prize money, TV revenue, and matchday income are factored in.

Basel are the team to avoid. I think they would knock us out right now.

Same for me, but even so we should have enough to get through against any despite the * window so far I'd think.

No gonna take anything for granted.

If our wide options were to remain the same then I'm not convinced!

Maccabi were actually the one team I didn't want, good to see them out already.

Basel the obvious ones to avoid, would prefer not getting Dynamo Kiev either.

The rest we should be beating very comfortably.

Wouldn't be massively confident against Basel, Kyiv or Sturm Graz.

Basel have ajeti playing up front for them, we should be capable of beating them over 2 legs
