It wouldn't surprised me if the board and recruitment team took the same summer holidays as the kids. Hence the scramble to get deals over the line. Like your mum trying to school.unofrms and shoes the day before you go back.

    Pronounced ‘Pew’-‘Sey’ I’m sure.

He’s from Huddersfield so the pronunciation is pretty strong

Took us until a few days before August to pluck a 19 year old from just down the road on loan with no option. Class

I think he'd actually be really good for us

But it being a loan with no option won't go down well given our current transfer business

    That's * horrific.

1 top quality CB with a history of injury problems, 2 prospects, who have barely played senior football, one of which isn't even ours and Liam * Scales.

Don’t think either of those two look particularly good tbh.

Yet to be linked with a CB who looks a significant upgrade.

Also lets not forget this - all the conversations we have is about younger players with sell-on value. We could easily afford a HUGE list of top class players at 28-30 years of age that would instantly improve us. We would not gain money on them on sales though so the board aint interested.

We would gain money on winning CL games though and possibly shirt sales depending on what name it is.

I think he looks perfect for us. Pace, great on the ball and the exact type we will look to develop.

But as I've said and others have, a straight loan makes very little sense.

Can understand folks frustration on the deal type but Man City will not let him go to anyone as he’s hugely rated.

The guy will be a class act and I guarantee most won’t even care if that’s the case.

Over the years I have been very vocal about straight loans but if this guy means we don’t have to watch Scales much I would take him.

In addition, if he is the only loan we sign and actually bring in loans with options/obligations or preferably permanents for the other positions I would take him.

It’s the context of the financial position we’re in alongside the deal type … I don’t doubt this guy will be good but ultimately it’s just kicking the can down the road another year for another manager to sort.

We could genuinely go out and buy a first team CB for 10 million and it wouldn’t touch the amount we’re sitting on much at all.

The cynic in me also thinks that we’re getting this lad in largely because we’re absolutely * at negotiating with other clubs and a loan deal is just easier for us to get over the line… with the amount of money we’re sitting on it’s all very uninspiring.

Celtic are hoping to tempt Jahmai Simpson-Pusey away from Manchester City for a year with talks over a loan deal.

The Scottish champions are ahead of a number of Championship clubs in their efforts to sign the 19-year-old defender who impressed at the Etihad last year

Simpson-Pusey made his first team debut under Pep Guardiola in October and was thrown in for a start to senior football that few at the City Football Academy have experienced, his full debut coming in the 4-1 Champions League defeat to Sporting. The teenager defender battled well during one of the most difficult periods for the senior side in a decade before injury ended his involvement with them

When Simpson-Pusey returned, he shone for an Under-21s side that topped the Premier League 2 under Ben Wilkinson and then went on to emerge as winners from the knockout stage, beating Liverpool, Arsenal and United along the way. The centre-back was named as the PL2 Player of the Season, marking the first time that a defender has claimed such a prize

Simpson-Pusey had been earmarked for a loan before the season had ended after proving to be a cut above at academy level, and Celtic would be an excellent environment for the player to learn. Former Blues Jason Denayer and Patrick Roberts enjoyed their time at Parkhead, while Virgil Van Dijk earned a move to the Premier League from there.

"As a centre-back at this club this year he's had an unbelievable football experience," coach Wilkinson told the Manchester Evening News in May. "Being thrown into the team at a really difficult moment, performing to a decent level in that game and the players recover fitness and you're out of it and then back playing U21s

You go from a Champions League game at Sporting to playing in front of 500. There's a huge change in that so for him to be rewarded with Player of the Season tells you how he's performed in those games. I always think he steps up in the bigger moments.

"He's had a great season and who knows what is next but he probably wants to leave U21 football and the fact he can leave it having lifted the Youth Cup at the end of last year and PL2 trophy this year means he can be really proud of his academy journey."

City, who saw youngster Farid Alfa-Ruprecht complete a £5m move to Leverkusen last week, are looking to send a number of their emerging talent players out on loan for the upcoming campaign. Simpson-Pusey's defensive partner Max Alleyne has also attracted attention, with Blackburn among the teams that have enquired for him, and full-backs Kaden Braithwaite and Lakyle Samuel could also head out for more regular football.

There are also decisions to be made in the first team. Sverre Nypan is expected to go on loan and Claudio Echeverri and Vitor Reis have had plenty of interest as City finalise what their squad will look like for the coming season.

If we signed him permanently and he done really well, we’d probably end up selling him next summer anyway, so a one year loan wouldn’t bother me.

Yeah but the big difference is you then have cash to strengthen the team. Realistically though I get your point we wouldn’t spend it.

There seems to be a suggestion one of the centre backs is for the off and I don’t think it’s going to be Welsh that would open up a space. I also think Murray will get a shot, so to me it would suggest Trusty could for the off.

Either that CCV has an offer but even then replacing him with a loan would genuinely have the sharks out again.
