It’s near impossible as the draw for the playoff round is made before the third round qualifier is played. Lech have got Red star Belgrade so even if they win they will take their seeding in the draw. Given we are seeded we can’t draw them. The only way that happens is if Red Imps put Red Star out this week which ain’t going to happen.

Celtic legend Emilio Izaguirre reckons countryman Luis Palma didn't work hard enough to be a success at his old club.

The Honduran international has again been shipped out on loan from Parkhead and made his debut as a late sub for Polish side Lech Poznan at the weekend.

Last season, he was sent out on loan to Greece with Olympiacos.

Izaguirre - who won seven league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups at Celtic and is now sports director of Motagua - was instrumental in getting Palma to Celtic after recommending the player to the Hoops.

But he's admitted he was disappointed with Palma's efforts in Scottish football.

He said: "I think Luis Palma needed to be more intense when he was at Celtic and actually finish the 90 minutes.

"I don't know if he has good pre-seasons, I don't know about injuries, but you can see that he never seems to be able to finish the 90 minutes.

He's a winger and has to run many miles a game, press and make runs. I'm not sure he did that.

"But he still has the potential to return to form.

"He's now in Poland and we hope he gets the chance to play and enjoy it because he definitely has what it takes.

"I have always believed in the national team players, which is why many of them play in Europe. We have quality."

Meanwhile, Palma was praised by his Lech Poznan manager Niels Frederiksen after his introduction to Polish football in a 4-3 win at ex-Scotland No.2 John Carver's Lechia Gdansk.

He said: "Luis Palma only had a few minutes on the pitch, but he forced a good save from their keeper and you could see the quality he has.

"He will be a big player for us this season once he gets up to match fitness."

His pressing was good, first season even after he got bombed out he won the ball back in the final 3rd more than anyone. He wasn’t good at tracking back positionally but he pressed well.

BR’s issue with him is he’d try the low percentage options every time, shoot if it was on at all rather than recycle the ball and keep the pressure up, would try a pass even if it’d only work 1 out of 10 whenever he spotted the possibility, didn’t work in with the methodic style of passing and moving and was generally the sort of player that’d frustrate the life out of him.

Snap them all up at that price mate. You’ll make a killing when he comes back mid season and fires us to the last 8 of the Champions League.

Used to annoy me no end too. It wasn't just that he'd try low percentage options that often didn't come off (Hatate does that!); it's that he'd try them when there was nothing particularly to be gained from trying something spectacular.
Especially coming in after we sold Jota. Jota was more than capable of Hollywood moves, but they always had a clear purpose and when they didn't, he would do the simple thing instead.

It's a shame, though, because he had most of the tools to be a really good player.

What's the design? Is it a picture of a bench or of some tumbleweed?

Honestly I know some somehow write him off as utter useless, but when we’re lacking wingers at the moment and yes I think we will absolutely get more in but I’d keep him about until we know we have the strength there.

He will frustrate the life out of Rodgers, allergic to his style of possession safe play, like an overexcited wean who see’s something exciting and does it with great abandon.

But he brings something different, something that only Hatate brings with the vision and delivery, not quite on Hatate’s level of it but he brings it. He is a goal threat, he was a big threat in the CL for us. He can get a goal out of nowhere, he has uses. He has qualities that we are lacking in, in positions we need numbers in, and he’s discarded.

And there’s a lot of polite applause about it. He may not be Rodgers ideal and what he wants style wise, but he’s not daft, he’s not unaware of what he can do but the style is what he’s married to regardless, he’d rather not have the back up if it’s an option that is someone he’d need to adapt the system if he plays him. And that’s a weakness for me. I think having those guys that are different to what they’ve replaced and play a bit different and different patterns, more spontaneous can be used very effectively. Have we got a fit LW who’s not Maeda? Our one fit LW we have is our best striker
