Celtic's 2025/26 Summer transfer window: Stage: Panic

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Sgt Neppers*, Mar 16, 2025.

  1. Just straight loan to a decent enough team. Maybe a better side than Bolton in the championship or even somewhere abroad..

Somewhere like Belgium or Holland. Look at Troy Parrot for AZ..

  2. There's about 24 days 'til the play off. Any player going into that would need to be here for at least a week prior.
As I see it the club have at the most 2 weeks to sort it out.

If by this time next week we don't have 2 more first team signings in, I'm seriously hitting the panic button.

How the * can we blow £9m on Idea and not cough up for decent players.

So what if we have to pay a bit more that we'd like, we paid at least £6 mil more than we should have for Idah

  3. I think its either the pace the recruitment is moving at, or the targets hes been given are the issue.

If Rodgers had been told we were selling Kuhn and no plans to replace him - he would have started kicking off weeks ago.

His comments up to the Ajax game were generally "business not done yet, hard work going on" etc. To me that suggests that when Kuhn was sold he was told that there was money to spend and replacements to be brought in.

We had a bad result against Ajax then and hes started getting more pointed in his comments around the recruitment. Which is often Rodgers go to after a bad result.

If you were to read between the lines - his comments around clubs ambition - that to me translates into that hes been presented some targets he feels arent the level needed to progress and hes passed on them.

The comments around knowing we need to strengthen - I think that translates into we need to get a move on.

So I dont think hes been told we wont be spending money. I think its more there has been disagreements over some of the targets presented.

  5. I think the name just stuck after someone we met on holiday was talking to some other guests about me trying to sing in the karaoke the previous night as just described me as the wee Baldy guy. People would just say here comes the wee baldy guy after that, and my Mrs used to always joke about it and just continued it for a laugh. Oh, and I genuinely fit the description, which helped.

  6. John Bhoy79

John Bhoy79 Head in the clouds. Mind in the gutter.

Asked if he was expecting any signings soon, Rodgers admitted, "I don't know, I haven't had any sort of update as of yet.

Had another manager at another club said that I'd assume they were just giving a pat response so as to not give anything away but with us you can guarantee it's the truth. A manager whose squad has been weakened not knowing which players he's getting or when. Or even if. This pre-season has been a scandal in terms of improving the team or moving it forward.

  8. I think the alarm bells should be fully ringing now. The fact Rodgers has come out and said that so close to the new season starting and only just three weeks to the qualifiers for the champions league.

There is no way Rodgers is staying after this season the way this window is being conducted.

Can see a carbon copy of his last year here. Two weird windows and then some premiership team sacks their manager and he’s gone again.

You can’t blame him if that played out again.

  9. I think it's more hes identified players and the board arnt wanting to pay the fees required

  10. The manager “hopes” ah well that’s fine

  11. Rogers will be off at the end of his contract simply because he isn’t getting the tools to do the job. I don’t understand this lack of wanting to improve the team to a European challenge standard. Is it because the club are expecting private legal action against them concerning youth coaches. It’s unbelievable what we have and what we should have with the money this club can generate. Rant Over

  12. What the presser would have been if Rogers was fully onboard and in harmony with board and recruitment team.

We have identified targets that we think will really excite the fans and move the quality of team and squad forward, especially in an attacking sense.
I am confident we will get the majority over line in the coming weeks.
Very much looking forward to new season.
I am also continuing the positive dialogue with the owner around my own longer term future here.

And people wonder why BR * off the first time and why he's * off again. The man must have the patience of a saint dealing with the * on our board

It was just a throw away line really, more exasperation than anything, like a lot of us on here feel at the moment.
You could be right though. I have said before I think there is some kind of power struggle/showdown going on between Rodgers and the Board over our transfer targets, and depending on the outcome, could well decide Brendan's future at the club.

Let's see what happens in the next few weeks.

  14. I think his very high salary helps too though.

  15. You are totally right mate. It's the elephant in the room and has been getting ignored for years.
Our midfield is porous, the wrong mix, and all of our midfielders, are much the same as the rest.
Ange made a token gesture by signing a DM, Abildigaard on loan, who he then went on to never play, it's utterly baffling.

    Sunday news

Sarpsborg sporting director Hampus Andersson has revealed Celtic have yet to revive their interest in winger Sondre Orjasaeter this summer.

The Hoops have been long-term admirers for the forward and the Norwegian Under-21 cap came close to joining Brendan Rodgers ' side in January - but felt he wasn’t ready to make he leap to the Premiership.

That led to a £4million bid being booted out by Sarpsborg in January - it's understood that the club will looking to bank up to £7million for the highly-rated 21-year-old.

Royal Antwerp wide man Michel-Ange Balikwisha is among the long-term targets on the agenda as the Parkhead chiefs look to provide Rodgers with a replacement for Nicolas Kuhn following his big money move to Como.

But Orjasaeter looks to have dropped down the pecking order. Asked about interest in the attacker this summer, Andersson told Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad: "It is clear that there will be great interest when he performs at the level he has.

Earlier this summer, Orjasaeter claimed he was now keen to progress his career outside of Norway: "Now I feel ready to take the step, while I am doing well here with full focus on Sarpsborg.

"I think that if it happens, it happens. It's not like I'll be depressed if there's no transfer."

Along with a winger, Rodgers has already made it clear that he wants to add more firepowerto the side having lost Kuhn, Kyogo and Matt O'Riley in the last three windows.

And Simon Donnelly reckons that the board must offer up two more deals before the Champions League qualifiers to fulfil the request of the boss.

He told the Sunday Post: "They had a great campaign last season and they showed they belonged beside the very best.

"The new format of having eight group games really suited Celtic and they had some great results. It led to the knockout game against Bayern Munich and the lads came so very close.

It was heartbreaking to lose to the Germans in the last minute but it shows you can never switch off at that level. That said, the squad will be better for that experience and can use it next month

Callum McGregor, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kasper Schmeichel will make sure every player is focused and aware of what they need to do on the pitch.

There is also bound to be a couple of more signings between now and then. Brendan has made it clear that new recruits are required and there will be hard work behind the scenes to deliver.

"The new signings will need to hit the ground running and they will be given every encouragement to do so.
