He's just not got it, I'm sorry. A riddy that we paid 11m for him.

 

Players been running off the back of him all game and his passing has been so sloppy. First touch went about 8 yards in front of him at one point. A dreadful pre season.

 

Ive been a big fan of Engels but he's looked off it in pre season. Was really hoping this pre season would kick him on further.

 

I know I’ve been told to stop criticising him on here but he has been non-existent again. We all want him to succeed but on the evidence so far since he digits not looking good.

 

Confidence is absolute rock bottom - he looks haunted

 

Just can not get into games at all. Would love to see his touches there.

 

I don’t think he’ll be a first pick this season based on his very poor performances.

 

He's probably our worst midfielder.

 

Engels is an enigma, an £11M enigma.

Put simply, he lacks the mentality to play for Celtic.

I find the "mentality" argument a nonsense half the time , but in this case I think you're right. He doesn't look like he wants the ball or to get involved , just want him to take the game by the scruff of the neck but he doesn't seem to have the guts for it. Plays like he's had a downer in the warm up.

 

Aye, no two ways about it, hes been terrible this summer.

Needs to work to regain his spot in the squad, and that's saying something with the price we paid for him.

Hes still young, still had a decent enough season last year but he has a long way to go.

 

Looking forward to him being awarded more MoTM trophies.

 

He's a very costly mistake. Makes you wonder who scouted him ?

I wonder if we will ever be able to recoup our money on him.? You might have guessed, I've written him off.

 

Think he's a functional run of the mill midfielder , can look tidy at times but there's no star waiting to burst out imo . He's ok for us generally , but was abysmal tonight and has been all pre season.

 

Just needs a pre-season tho

He was genuinely a man down tonight I was watching him and Bernardo all game , and he was truly woeful.

Well I don't see any 11m bids for him any time soon if you're asking will we recoup our money ......think there will be Bundesliga teams that will like him still from his time there so who knows in the future . Don't see him kicking on here though , just doesn't seem at home . Thought it was Reo and Calum maybe occupying the positions he wanted to be on the pitch , but tonight was even worse without them.
