If you speak to the school they are often understanding. The rules are there to stop people taking the *.
But strange from someone who's previously called for general strikes

Difference is that people pay directly for their further education. If I'd paid for something and didn't get it I'd want a refund.

I don’t agree with a fine in any case, but not everyone is the same. For every good parent that takes a child out of school for a much-needed family holiday (and ensures they play catch up) there’s another one who couldn’t give a * about their kids and will happily jeopardise their education for the sake of getting some cheap sun.

Also - it’s often people who have more money than everyone else who do this (no wonder).

Because you think it’s ok for kids to miss school so they can sit in the sun, but if they miss it because teachers strike then someone needs to be punished? Is a holiday more important than equal/fair pay?

Yeah, my kids school has some propper minted parents and they do it.

I go during the holidays as otherwise I'll have to take more annual leave in the holidays or pay for childcare. So while I'd save some money, not as much as you'd think.

If you do want to save some go during the last 2 weeks of term. Much cheaper and the schools do * all at that point.

No, it’s because of double standards. it’s ok for teachers to deny kids an education by going on strike but if parents do it they get punished.
This could be sorted if airlines were prevented from extortion of those parents and children.

Been there. Always remember the head teacher almost revelling in telling me(borderline threatening) that there could be repercussions. Not as if your just taking them out of school on a whim. Trying to give them a holiday maybe hoping they see the value of working hard, something your general excuse making moaning teachers usually encourage them to do anyways, can only be a good thing.

I hope the education system is getting better gradually. I've always been under the impression teachers don't really give a * anyway and even if they did the curriculum or politics of the system makes it so any drive to properly teach by engaging children gets drained away. Education was extremely poor where I grew up, having said that as soon as I left they knocked down my school and changed the whole tier system.

    * beards!

Why would you want to have a beard? Seriously?

What is the fascination with looking like Peter Sutcliffe and * perverts like him?

“oh yes I’m sporting the 1970’s rapist murderer look this year”

It also seems part of the get up to also own a pair of * brown brogues

If I was in charge, every person with a manicured or hipster beard would be only spared their life if they were neutered.

If caught wearing Jobby coloured shoes you would have your legs chopped off and the brogues rammed up your nostrils.

Blackfish, have you heard my rants regarding this? I'd give these people 3 chances.
1st; Shave the beard and lose the brown shoes. If you don't, you'll be fined.
2nd; If you've still not got rid of them, a public flogging in the town square
3rd; Still got them? You're getting a vasectomy. No arguements.

These people shouldn't be allowed to breed.
