Adam Idah

Its a bit of a stretch to argue that without Idah we wouldnt have won the Scottish cup final. If Idah wasnt there we would still have a striker playing. That argument has as much merit as saying, 'if we didnt have Idah who was * in the most recent Scottish cup final, we would have won it'.

Who knows what might have been either way. Ultimately he had a massive opportunity to cement his place last season when Kyogo left, and besides one game I can think of (Villa) he looked mostly rotten.

Im not watching the Ajax game tonight but by all accounts it sounds like hes as ineffectual as usual. Ive just seen nothing to suggest he is even close to the level we need from a sole striker in our set up.

 

Yeah I have this feeling he's in trouble with regards the gaffer.... he criticised him publicly after the Portugal "performances". He looks so unfit and/or lazy to add insult to injury.

 

I think he has had his chances but not taken them, poor attitude it seems , bye bye for me

That's always been a nonsense argument, when you take a player out the team someone else plays instead of them, you don't just zero their contribution and not replace it. He didn't even have a particularly good game in the cup final either, Butland made a hash of a Bernardo drive and dropped it at his feet 8 yards out.

I was honestly baffled at the reaction after the game with people demanding we had to sign him.

 

I’ve tried really hard to see the good in him but honestly I don’t think he’s anywhere near good enough for our first team striker.

All good teams have a striker that if there’s a good chance you fancy them to put away at least 8/10 times … Idah just doesn’t have that good of a footballers brain tbh.

 

It's been a pretty rotten pre season for him.

His positioning is horrific for a striker, so often you see him out on the wings or in midfield when he should be up top.

 

Who could have guessed that Norwich's backup striker in the Championship was pish?

 

Someone will be along to tell you he's got all the attributes in a minute.

 

The way Rodgers was glowing about him first time round was utterly bizarre. Went on as if he was the next R9 or something.

It's been a strange thing witnessing people attempt to rate this guy or argue that he's anything better than mediocre. A few tap ins vs Rangers and one good performance vs Killie is doing a lot heavy lifting.

Take any amount of money we can get and run.

 

He needs to sit down and watch Brian Brobbey videos of the way he played tonight. Exactly how Idah SHOULD play with his size etc. said it before but I never feel confident when Idah is named in the starting 11. He could well go on to score 20 again this season but just doesn’t have that cutting edge that fills confidence

 

He said Charly Musonda was the next world superstar and we where really fortunate to have him aswell....
The mental gymnasts will be bumping this thread soon enough with fresh excuses ; he needed a run of games at first ,then it was confidence ,then it was he will be flying after a full pre season etc....soon there will be another reason.

 

How many games has he actually looked decent value for money ?

No way we couldn't have picked up a better striker for about a third of the price. Blame lies at BR door on this one.

Has so many weaknesses that do your nut in. The basics as well..

 

We signed Kyogo, Maeda and Giakoumakis for about the same as it cost us to sign Idah.

 

MLS or low end Championship you could see possibly.

 

Speaking of Giakoumakis, he was 10 times the ST Idah was.

Not as quick or good on the ball as Idah, but better at everything else.

Bit unbelievable how weak Idah looks at times.

 

Idah is painful on the ball mate..

Giakoumakis wasn't the best either but used his body well. Good hold up play. Bought fouls well. Good in the air. Had ok link up..

Every single game of Idah's will have examples of him failing to control the ball. Being brushed off it. Struggling with a simple lay off..
