If we are interested then we either need to be willing to pay closer to their valuation, otherwise we are wasting our time yet again. I suppose it gives us another to add to the tried and failed pile.

If we are not willing to get close to the value then why are we looking?

Ive always fancied an Omega dark side of the moon watch but its like 12k. If i bid £100 on an eBay auction can I say i was interested in buying it?

Cluj boss Dan Petrescu has branded Louis Munteanu "irreplaceable" following reports of a £6.9million bid from Celtic

The Scottish Premiership champions are keen to sign a striker despite the incoming arrivals of Shin Yamada - but Brendan Rodgers' declared the club would like to add even more firepower.

The Hoops have lost both Nicolas Kuhn to Como and Kyogo Furuhashi in the last six months - and Rodgers insists he needs to replaced the goals that have been lost since January.

And reports in Romania claim that the the Hoops have seen an offer of just under £6.9million booted out by the Transylvania based club - with the club holding out for a £15.5million.

Cluj owner Nelutu Varga told Sport Pesurse : "I have clearly said that Louis Munteanu will only leave if someone pays 18 million euros. I am not discussing anything else."

And Petrescu is keen to keep the frontman who netted 25 goals last term. He said: "Louis Munteanu will be almost irreplaceable. If we get a player who scores that many goals, it means we won the lottery."

I would be over the moon about this. This is the type of quality we should be after but we wont pay what they are asking unfortunately and will try to low ball them and he the time will run out.

Waste of time offering half the valuation, hope we move on swiftly and none of this monitoring the situation. Unless we are willing to go to 12/14 million which there is no chance we should be going after other targets.

Can't shake off the impression he'd met every single of the defenders "marking" him at those goals in that clip, the day before, in a pub...

People always comment on the defending when we're linked with an attacking player. I always think It wouldn't be much of a strikers highlight reel if the defending was good though :giggle1:

Aye but I find it strange to moan about us going for cheap punts in a thread about a player rated at £15m.

Louis Munteanu seems closer to leaving CFR Cluj. The 23-year-old striker scored again in the victory of the railwaymen, against Paksi, in the first round of the Europa League.Neluțu Varga gave an exclusive reaction to FANATIK , in which he spoke about the future of the top player.

Louis Munteanu, close to a colossal transfer to France
The top scorer from last season's Super League could change teams this summer. Neluțu Varga hopes to get a record amount in exchange for the transfer. From his statements, the move could materialize in the coming period.

Neluțu Varga made the announcement: "We will sit down at the negotiating table so that the boy can go for a medical check-up"
The number one man at CFR Cluj stated that a top team in the French championship could get their hands on the footballer's services in the coming days. Neluțu Varga also spoke about negotiations with a club in Spain, which, however, were blocked, as a consensus was not reached regarding the transfer fee.

"I never mentioned any names. I know clearly what offer we have, what discussions we have, and I know very clearly that that club asked me not to talk. That's why I'm not talking. I'm not interested in advertising. I'm interested in doing our job. Both we and they have a common goal: not to distort the information. We don't want anything to be published before everything is done by the book, professionally. At no big club in this world is there any talk before a transfer is made. They prepare, they do things silently, and when they sign, they announce it.

It's a club in France that, up until now, is the most serious in terms of professionalism. I understand that they will resolve some issues these days, then we will sit down at the negotiating table, so that the boy can go for a medical examination.

"I never mentioned the name of the club. I only said France. I only said that it is a top team from France. I don't know who checked what. I didn't mention any names. It is about a concrete interest from France and from Spain, but the Spaniards gave up because they didn't reach the amount I asked for. In pole position is France ," said the owner of CFR Cluj, Neluțu Varg

Let’s be totally honest here the way the club conducts transfer business, we will then offer then 7.2 million and be rejected again.

There is reports he has a large sell on clause so current club want over the top price for him.

Just a wee bit, their new majority shareholder was top of the billionaire rich lists last year even above musk and bezos.
