You've got to see those penalties there in that England V Sweden Quarter final.

I cannot believe what I just witnessed. One of the worst spectacles of football ever thats got to be, wee tiny skinny goalkeeper in a massive goal and everycunt hitting penalties like they were steaming and blindfolded.

Anybody who says women need smaller goals should watch that shootout. 14 pens, 5 scored. How the * do you miss pens against someone who's 5ft 9

 

Before it started as well im thining how is anyone possibly going to miss here as these keepers have no chance of getting down to the corners, 5ft 9 is generous as well, Greg Taylor would've looked like the Hulk compared to them.

But the level of the kicking was * terrible, reminded me of little 5 year old kids learning how to like pass a ball. Was as if they'd never took a penalty before or even kicked a ball most of them.

 

Pks, for me, were reflection of quality of football from players on pitch - few were skilled enough for football to have a legit shot at converting whereas in open play most were simply lumping the ball forward to the few skill players to convert

Not a great advert for women’s football IMHO, just trying to win vs play well….Spain, on the other hand, different sauce

 

That penalty shootout was the most abysmal thing I’ve ever witnessed. Fair * to the Sweden keeper but then to TAKE the 5th penalty and absolutely wallop it like that

 

It was beyond embarrassing. I've coached in women's/girls football for years so I probably stick up for it more than many...but there was no defending that last night. The technique was absolutely abysmal from 90% of them. Makes a mockery of the sport.

With every year though, the standard of players coming through is getting better and better. Women's football in 10/15 years will be night and day compared to now. Level of technical ability and game understanding is way better.

I do think there's an argument to be made for making the pitches smaller, but it's just totally impractical.

 

For me the main issue the sport faces is only a handful of countries really give a *. You have England, Sweden, France, Germany, USA, Japan and Spain. After them I think the level goes down massively to the point the other teams barely put up a fight and will not even get a shock result.

Scotland men's are * but can go and get results against Spain, Croatia or Poland. And in general put up a fight. The women's team would lose a pile of traffic cones.

No matter what anyone says IMO women goalkeepers are *. They cant jump. Top or even middle bin they struggle to save shots. Even then the shots are going thru theie hands. Now they want smaller goals and balls ffs.

 

That penalty shoot out the other night was the most appalling pile of * I’ve ever witnessed.

I went to bed after watching it and said to my beloved wife that she will read headlines saying “dramatic penalty shoot out win”, but it was the worst display of incompetence you would ever set eyes on.

Sure enough, the headlines were there, but wow! It was like watching toddlers at a birthday party kicking balloons. Absolutely shocking and was so bad that the game should be scrapped.


Even in extra time, some of the clear chances that were squandered was appalling. A drunk baby giraffe with broken ankles would have made better attempts.

I’ve tried so hard to enjoy the women’s game, but it’s so * it’s unbelievable. Sometimes the games are enjoyable on the level that they are at, but the “skill” set is so so far off it can’t even be compared to the men’s game.

I think we only have the mens game to compare it to, which has had a lot of time to develop through sheer competitiveness. That and I reckon the fact if I had * my balance would be * to be fair.
Penalties seems like a whole different ballgame for the womens, its like the keeper has the advantage instead, it's weird.

 

Hahaha, wish i had put my bet later, done them to qualify when they went down but odds woulda been far better if I had sone a few mins ago.

Switched over huns game soon as the 2nd went in and watched Italy miss a sitter straight in to the English midget keeper on the deck from 3 yards out..

Can't be arsed..

 

Aw * off. Penalty with two mins left, missed and then score the rebound and they win it.
