For what it’s worth, skimming through the thread he had on here, there was plenty of people talking about how he looked slow and ill suited to our style - which is perhaps made even more damning when you consider that in the same thread you had comments saying that Lagerbielke (who we had yet to sign) looked the better option.

I wanted him IIRC along with Nawrocki *lol*.

2 years down the line and still not moved on though would be something you'd question.

He missed nearly the full 23/24 season with a heart condition. I also feel like he had a lot of injury problems earlier in his career. He is a threat at set plays with his height and decent on the ball but his 1v1 defending is brutal as he is exceptionally slow on the turn.

Isak Jensen has just signed for AZ Alkmaar for €4m, wouldn’t surprise me if he gets a big move from them after a season or two. They are normally good at spotting young talent and getting the best out it.

Exact sort of signings we should be all over.

Proper maddening at times the way we operate.

We should just sign their recruitment team. Taking guys from clubs like that and Nordjaelland etc wouldn't be a bad idea.

Sadly it would also make sense. So we won't.

The untapped potential we have is insane. Could easy have 4 or 5 of these type of signings every year.

Scandinavia is just brimming with players like that every season or two.

Dutch clubs always seem to have loads of quality players from that part of the world. Signed for a pittance as well.

    Hahaha exactly what I thought.

If I was in charge, I'd higher both of those clubs recruitment teams and build front there.

Both clubs seem to buy cheap players with really good potential. We're much more attractive than those clubs yet as soon as they move there, they're out of our reach.

    Don't understand it tbh.

Yet we will hire guys like O'Dea and Stevie Hamill. Don't forget Strachans son.

We'd be a lot better set if we started looking abroad for thise positions.

But the best is always on our doorstep.
Clearly, because Scottish football is thriving and the peak of success, why wouldn't the talent scouting team be the same.

This is what is meant by hiring the right guys though, it shouldn't be too hard or expensive to hire folk with a proven track record at these other clubs and build a recruitment team worth it's salt. Inatead, we continue to hire the lads and just assume things done cheaply will fall in to place.

Apparently Nicholson had cast the net pretty wide looking for a DOF type appointment, then took his proposals to the board and was more or less told to wind his neck in. That’s what we’re up against.

There’s a huge chasm between our football operation and our business operation. We desperately need someone as a middle man who is accountable to both sides and not just a yes man to either. It’s no wonder our recruitment seems to start and stall constantly when the two sides seemingly don’t have clear and consistent lines of communication.

By the board are we talking Desmond and Lawwell? It'd be interesting to know who else is voting against this sort of progression.

Only reason you can possibly think is fear of losing 'power'.

Mad to think they look at wvery other club around our supposed level and think "nah we don't want that". Even Hearts and Aberdeen are beginning to take a more modern approach than us.

This is where having all the money in the world can often mean * all.

I certainly get the impression that any time there’s a vote or a decision to be made, the majority round the table look to Desmond and Lawwell for a steer. They’re the power couple and, as you say, they’ve certainly got a fear of giving up any of that power.

It’s embarrassing that we operate such an old fashioned model. As you say, other clubs are catching on more and more while we sit on our hands. There’s no point in us having money if we’re not spending it well and moving forwards as a club.

Said for ages we should have scouting hubs or club partnerships in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe...places like Croatia Serbia Romania or even the Czech Republic. Portuguese teams have those types of set ups in South America and its worked well for them.
