Lack of attacking links is concerning but the main one for me is that its looking more and more likely Scales is still going to be a starter for us going into the new season which is criminal.

Is our back line and gk I reckon. Quite strong imo just depends on back up if there’s injuries.

edit: scratch that, QUALITY Back line imo

Our recruitment strategy, process, whatever uou want to call it. It’s beyond embarrassing at this point.

It feels absolutely * * from all angles.

    * knows what Ange changed over a couple windows but we have reverted to type since BR’s first day.

After the first two windows with Ange it was the same. And it took him a while to get players even in his first window.

CCV, Jota and Giakoumakis all signed on the final day of the window, remember.

Dominic McKay wanted to make changes...got booted. This isn't a manager related thing. It's those above.

Would absolutely love to know what happened with McKay, the rumour obviously being he waw out his depth and negotiating bad deals.

We havent had a good window since he left, maybe not stalling over 800k for a top target was his issue for the suits

What surprises me the most, every so often some of the teams we play in Europe have some stand out players, im talking about in the early stages. (Not the elite clubs) We never seem to identify or sign players that looked good against us.

I think he probably fell short in terms of the clauses in deals but he certainly managed to get them done, ultimately.

Rumour I always heard was that those around him weren't happy with how he approached the Juranovic deal as it wasn't sanctioned.

    Thank * he did.

Being fair after Ange season one it already started to revert and even then Ange season one took a while to kick into gear they were also extreme circumstances we basically struggled to field a team yet never really done much until Ajer left then finished the job when Edouard and Christie left.

Most of those incoming deals were handled by a third party, someone from Ange’s agent Frank Tribolli’s CAA Base agency.

I remember Sacha Boey now of Bayern basically said he didn’t come here as something felt off trying to deal with us when a third party was involved. He went to Galatasaray for £1m and a 15% sell on and later was sold to Bayern for €30m 2.5 seasons later.

The January was basically Ange getting the players from Japan he wanted in the summer and Matt O’Riley was one from the scouting team when Riley McGree decided Middlesbrough was a better move. That summer window though we were carried by Kyogo and CalMac with a notable contribution from Abada.

The likes of Ralston, Montgomery, Turnbull, Christie and Edouard all playing prominent parts despite being almost out the door. It wasn’t until the end of the window when CCV and Jota arrived we actually started to look decent. Juranovic came in near the end of the window and Giakoumakis didn’t get going until New Year after Kyogo was out.

Ange was a success despite the efforts of the club hierarchy, we were also extremely lucky that almost every player that came in within 6 months became a success basically apart from McCarthy and a couple of young boys.

Abada, Starfelt, Kyogo, Juranovic, CCV and Jota were pretty much right in and Giakoumakis along with Maeda, Hatate and O’Riley hit the ground running in January. Rogic and Turnbull got flogged for 5 months before the midfield back up came in, in January.

I do start to wonder if we might be the only club in the whole of world football who take tapping players up seriously and avoid it as we seem to go into windows not having a clue if a target fancies a move to us, how much it would cost etc.

It does feel as though practically all our recruitment takes place over a six-to-eight week period. And the important stuff really only the last two weeks of that. Must be some gig being a scout at Parkhead.

Should be noted, PL was financial controller for a period under that board in the early 90s.
As you say, the current board may not have the same shortcomings financially but it's almost as if PL is desperate not to let that happen again, he's went too far

But equally, between him and Desmond, they've managed to somehow make the club still a job for the boys and a place to work if you know the right man/family. Something I am sure Fergus didn't want the club to become again.

Because, although we won't financially be in trouble, they're operating in the same way and restricting the club massively. Just with a different perspective to how to run the club. Still badly for a football club

Exploring the conditions of a deal is a new one.

They must be trolling at this point.

The Record know absolutely * all about Celtic these days.

That online team they have....* me. All they do is rehash what they've seen on other Celtic-related outlets.

Moved from monitoring to 'making an enquiry' - it's getting feckin serious now bhoys:57:
    Watch that blood pressure Peter.

Ajax winger Carlos Forbs is on the brink of securing a £7.2million transfer to Brugge and it's been reported a Scottish club enquired before he committed to a switch to Belgium.
