He was very good at that time, but he wasn't a patch on Dembele.
He took the cream puff in his last year here, just like Kuhn and a few others when they didn't get their move, and downed tools.

The French contingent ? Celtic fans don't like their players that do that.

 

On his day he was excellent but think those days would be few and far between now. If Rodgers could give him a shake and he came back with a real desire to resurrect his career then he'd be an asset but I can't see it, he strikes me as the type that will end up sliding down the leagues and out the game.

 

Bollocks. Edouard actually has a better goals to game ratio than Dembele and I think most people would say Edouard had more in his locker, in terms of dribbling ability and unpredictability.

He took the huff so much that he scored 22 goals in 40 games. I’d * love to have a striker with that goal return.

 

Would mean Maeda back on the left if he joins, no chance would he join as backup.

Could mean the end of Idah, maybe not this window but January.

It's a tricky one, I think he's underrated by our support, but there's very valid concerns over how he's performed over the last few years.

A fully fit and firing Edouard would be different gravy however, and Rodgers is the perfect manager to get the best out of him.

 

With his ability, he should have done a lot more with his career, so 50/50 on this one. Will back Brendan's judgment if he goes for him.

 

How credible were the links to him? I feel like the Edouard rumours get rehashed at least once every summer for a few weeks

You must be blind if you think Eduoard was better than Dembele.

 

Idah scored 20 goals in 53 games. Reason he didn’t start as many games as Edouard is because he isn’t good enough to start every game for us. Edouard was. Idah couldn’t lace Edouard’s boots.

The season Edouard “took the huff” was far more productive than any season Idah has produced so far in his career.

Better than Kyogo? Ooft. You could have picked any other striker and you could make a case, but not against Kyogo. In just about every metric, Kyogo was superior. Most importantly, he scored massive goals in Europe and against Rangers. Far more than Edouard.

 

Not ideal but I’d have him over yamada anyday.

 

Edouard is/was a better footballer than Kyogo. I wouldn’t even say that’s up for debate.

Kyogo had bigger moments, aye. But Edouard at his best had everything. Strength, pace, ability on the ball and finishing. Again, a bit more magic about him than Kyogo who was a phenomenal goalscorer but not as gifted as Edouard.

This exctly. Does not really matter if the player is good if he will stink the whole * place down. Would need to be a world class player for that to weigh up to be a positive somehow.

Interesting arguement - either which way both Edouard and Dembele at their best were significantly better than any strikers we've had since.
Embarrassingly better than the current #9 options.
