I think the problem is Scales will likely be on a Ralston-esq back up player wage in the squad whereas Trusty will likely be on decent money.

Therefore, knowing how we work if either was to go it’s more likely going to be Trusty.

 

Scales is an easier sell for the above reason. Also easier to turn a profit as we’re not out to recoup the same outlay.

 

He was Kool as a cucumber in Europe it’s a head scratcher only thing a can think of like a said before is the refs letting centre forwards away with murder
Also can’t be good that he has a manager that willing to drop a player for scales as soon as a mistake is made

Wouldn't write him off just yet. He came to us off the back of a brutal season with Sheffield United. Had some great games, including in the CL, and some poor games. Must know what he needs to work on this preseason: strength and aggression.

Think he'll be an important player for us in the CL qualifiers. It would be very risky to go into them with only Scales and CCV as our fit recognised first team CBs. Even new signings are a risky in those games. Would rather have 3 CBs that are used to each other - there's always a worry 1 gets injured.

Then let's see how he does when the real games starts. Can always punt in winter or next year if need be.

 

It was a large number of mistakes before he called Scales back in wasn’t at the drop of a hat.

He has a lot of really good attributes to him, it’s up to him to put that altogether on a consistent basis. He needs a shift in his mentality and to want to impose himself more than anything, he does have everything you’d be wanting in a centre back. He’s not going to have long to show that he knows how to use it before being sidelined this season though, if we do recruit as we mostly all expect at CB

 

If today wasn't just a pre-season friendly he'd be getting pelters. I wouldn't be bothered if we sold him. So easily rattled.

 

Still deserving of pelters for today tbh … for a guy his size he’s hardly commanding and his defending and reading of the game at times is so naive.

I would take the loss on him and get him moved on asap

 

I would clear out everyone of them that played centre back at a point today. Absolutely rotten the lot of them.

 

Been a poor pre season for him so far.

At the same time games like these are used to shake the rust off our players.

I still stand by keeping him unless we get a sml profit on what we paid or hes adamant on leaving.

Not really sure what to make of him, there were times last season he looked steadier than CCV, some real stand-out games in europe, then looked ropey as * in the league against some of the wee teams. There's a player there, maybe he just lacks concentration/focus.

 

Incredibly low bar, to be fair.

Trusty could be the one under pressure if a new face arrives. But he’s not shying away from the battle. He said: “There is always competition for places at every team. As you move up the ranks, there is always going to be competition wherever you go. You want a good squad and a squad with depth, too.



Trusty produced some stellar displays in the Champions League, but appeared to find it tough going at times domestically, losing his place to Liam Scales in the run-in.

Despite the bumps, he’s proud of what he achieved in his first year at Parkhead - picking up two trophies. He said: “I felt it went extremely well. I was unfortunate at times with some injuries which were bad timing. But overall I feel extremely proud of last year. I’m excited about this coming season too



But I look back on my first year and it’s extremely positive. Winning two trophies and doing really well in the Champions League individually and as a collective makes it only positive.”

Having once been on the books at the biggest club in London, the ex-Arsenal star says he quickly settled into life in Glasgow's goldfish bowl. He said: “I feel I adapted really well. Obviously, I was in England previously, so I've got used to the weather and the culture in the UK.

"The group is also really good, probably the best one I’ve been part of. There is a great camaraderie and togetherness within the whole squad. It’s genuinely really, really good


It was an even smoother transition for Trusty, playing alongside a fellow American Bhoy in Cameron Carter-Vickers.

He said: “Cam is great. We have known each other for a long time now. That camaraderie and chemistry is already there so it’s nice to play alongside him. We spent a whole month together with the national team in South Korea at the Under-20s World Cup.”


And there’s another familiar figure back in the fold in Kieran Tierney - a player Trusty shared a dressing room with at the Emirates. He said: “I have known KT for a while now. I watched him at Arsenal. Greg Taylor was a big character for the team and a really, really good guy

"It’s sad that he’s moved on but KT has come in and I’m really happy about that. He has massive history with the club.

"But it’s like he’s been here the whole time. He’ll bring a lot of attributes to this team and it helps that he’s been here before.


Trusty almost ended his debut campaign with a famous Treble, only for Celts to crash to a shock Scottish Cup Final defeat to Aberdeen.

Rather than dwell on what could have been, the 26-year-old is using the heartache as fuel.

He added: “Obviously you don’t want to lose a title. And we wanted the Treble.



But there’s a positive side to it as it allows us something to chase. It gives us a hunger from losing that game and losing out on the Treble. It keeps us wanting more and keeps us striving to get better.

"You have to learn from mistakes. But as a team you have to find positives. If you only look at the negatives then it’ll drive you crazy.

"You can learn from the negatives but you also need to look at the positives as well.


There is stuff to change to get better as a team.”

 

That reads to me. We get a decent offer he is looking to bail!

 

Someone needs to tell Rogers to go and see a optician as we have let better centre halfs go in rocky and lager and still have scales and trusty as first choice going into a new season unbelievable.

 

How have you got that from any of what he said

 

See being fair if we could actually find better players, I would like to get rid of both and think both would have buyers.

We just won’t have the capacity given how we operate to make that sort of change in one go.

No we haven’t, the 3 of them are not good enough. Trusty gets flung around like a rag doll against players half his size.
