Nicolas Kuhn has today joined Italian side, Como, on a four-year deal and everyone at Celtic wishes him every success with his new club.

The 25-year-old German winger joined Celtic from Rapid Vienna back in January 2024, and made the first of 69 appearances for the Hoops that same month in a 1-0 home win over Ross County that same month.

The first of his 23 goals for Celtic was against Aberdeen at Pittodrie the following month.

In total, he scored 23 goals during his time in the Hoops, with 21 of those goals coming last season, when he also contributed an impressive 15 assists.

And during his time as a Celt, Nicolas Kuhn won two league titles, the Scottish Cup and, last season, the League Cup.

Everyone at Celtic thanks Nicolas for his contribution to the club and we wish him every success in the future.

Good business by the club and good riddance to the guy, obviously thought he was too good for us this year.

Personally I'm pretty gutted but whatever it is what it is, will be difficult to find another winger capable of scoring a double against a team as good as Leipzig as well as being able to score home (I'm counting it) and away against Bayern

Never got the impression he was particularly excited to be here. 20m euros is a great price. Not too fussed he is gone.

Is that trackie meant to be retro? Looks like late nighties/early noughties garb.

I think he was actually extremely hardworking and had a great attitude in that respect. The problem was that he was a coward both in the physical sense and in the sense that he would hide when the going got tough.

This still leaves us weaker than at the start of last season, but plenty of time yet.

Nicolas Kuhn arrived at Celtic with a reputation for being a speed merchant but when the call came some fans felt he couldn’t leave the club quick enough.

The wide man’s £17m move to Como was completed as quick as a flash and it meant there wasn’t any time for any long goodbyes at Parkhead.

But Kuhn insists the rapid departure after a short spell in Scotland didn’t mean it wasn’t a tough call to leave.

The 24-year-old could have raced away from the Scottish press in Como on Wednesday night after he’d made his first start for his new club in the friendly win against Al Ahli.

Instead he wanted to grab the chance to address the fans who hailed him for a season-and-a-half – and promise to run back some day to support his old team from the stands.

Kuhn said: “I loved my time at Celtic. It’s an unbelievable club. It was difficult to leave, of course. I wasn’t there that long – it was 18 months. But everything happened quite fast and I enjoyed it.

I loved my time there and think we had some really special moments. I think it turned out pretty well. That was the plan, to stay for probably two years, perform well and help the team and the club.

I will be forever grateful for what Celtic did for me. I loved my time time. I am happy to see them again. It was a special time and hopefully in the future I will go back and be there in the stadium as a fan.

It will always be special for me to go back to Glasgow one day. I will see the team again this week and I will be happy to see all the guys.”

Kuhn has always been a man in a hurry. He’s also never been afraid to sprint towards the next challenge having jumped from RB Leipzig to Ajax and then Bayern Munich as a kid, then Rapid Vienna and then Celtic in jig time in the senior ranks.

The Como move was something that interested him from the off. The Italians had been tracking the German for much longer than just this summer.

There was some interest in the attacker when he was still in Austria and boss Cesc Fabregas has revealed he’s been a long-time admirer.

It took until a few weeks ago to make their move but when the figures added up for both the player and Celtic, the deal was sealed at his usual breakneck pace.

Kuhn admitted it was hard to go but the ambitious Serie A side – who are based in one of the most stunning cities in Europe – was a big draw.

He said: “It all happened quite fast but I will be happy to see all the lads. At Como, it’s quite a good project.

“They have a lot of power and it’s also a really good league. It’s also a little bit closer to my home so it’s quite good.

“That’s what Celtic have done in the last few years. They have done it a lot of times so everything was perfect

Kuhn would say the same about his Celtic spell. There was a lot of talk about his slow start at Celts and then his final few months where he didn’t quite hit the sublime heights he hit during an incredible first six months of last season.

It wasn’t like the attacker’s form went off a cliff. He still contributed to get Celtic over the line in the Premiership and perhaps it was always going to be tricky to keep producing the same incredible performances every single week for an entire campaign.

Either way, that finish half of the campaign, right up until his sensational Champions League display against Bayern Munich in the Allianz ArenA will live long in the memory for fans as well as the player.

As will the work done by manager Brendan Rodgers. There is no bad blood between the pair despite the parting of the ways.

In fact, Kuhn revealed he was given the blessing of his boss when they sat down for an impromptu exit interview.

Kuhn said: “He is an amazing guy. We had some great times and good talks.

“Before I left, I went to see him in his office. I thanked him for everything he did for me. Now it’s a new chapter.”

Kuhn is convinced Rodgers and Celtic gave his career a turbo boost. He’ll forever be grateful – and won’t forget the good times after scooping four medals in 18 successful months.

He said: “The competition there was great. We achieved some great things together, like the Champions League last season was really good.

“I will always remember the atmosphere in those games. Even in the game we lost at home, against Bayern – and our comeback in the Allianz ArenA, that was really special.”
