I'm no expert but it's surely common-sense for a football club such as ourselves to be well aware of what business we are hoping to do well before any transfer-window actually opens, so that, when said window does begin, we can be straight out of the traps and get deals done ASAP. Our 2 biggest games of the season(CL qualifiers) take place in August after all and we SHOULD be looking to have the squad ready for those, having had as much time together as possible. Similarly, if we receive any bids that we feel are too good to turn down for any of our players then we should have extensive lists of targets to replace each member of the squad so we can bring them in quickly. That is all common-sense yet I honestly feel at times that a transfer-window opens and we're like "OK, so what business are we gonna do this time?". Sounds crazy but some of our behaviour backs it up. The Kyogo situation last January for instance. Every year I see really good players, whom we could easily afford and who would certainly consider coming here, going to other clubs whilst we waste money on projects, squad filler and guys we just don't need. The board's attitude always seems to be "that'll do" rather than pushing the club to be the best it can be.

I think the main issue is our transfer activity is heavily dependent on who we sell. So by nature we are reactive in the transfer market. Last year, we only finalised the MOR sale late and left ourselves little time to work with.

This year, we have the Kuhn sale done early. So we should have no reason not to secure targets in good time.

We've got some business done earlier than we have most summer windows in the past, the sheer determination from some on here to still try to twist it into a negative and somehow proof that we're slow/unprepared/incompetent is hilarious. Demented.

Not overly concerned at the moment and some movement out, but we are considerably weaker than we finished the season, however I am counting jota out for a while and this injury to CCV if theres an issue with period of time out.

Still a lot of guff to go out and hopefully that happens, KT coming in is a defo blue chip signing, nygren Im excited about, blindly admittedly, the others I dont believe will make an impact this season so Im not counting them.

I think we will see things start to pick up now after the Kuhn deal is concluded, Nawrocki is on his way out, Lagerbielke probably too, good chance Welsh too, all of those players who we know are not up to the mark.

Left winger should be incoming now, another CB too. I don't see another striker now.
The question now is do we really need another right winger ?

Not everyone. I personally think a lot of people have overstated his attitude problems or any lack of effort, and underestimated the value of his contribution even when off his game.

Said before it's difficult for anyone to keep up the best form he showed and I'd preferred he'd stay, have a strong preseason and come back and find his strongest form again this season but if he wanted to go, and we get a decent offer, then fair enough. I think it's a decent deal considering it does look like he wanted to move on, but obviously now absolutely imperative we work on replacing his goals and assists which is going to be a massive task.

Definitely think we will see some movement in the next week or so, and not for squad players. We really needed and still do need to shift some of the deadwood which we are looking to do now. That will hopefully free us up a bit to identify starters and improve from last season, not just maintain. Think 2 quality players changes the perspective massively so I will stay hopeful. Still very very early days

It doesn't need to be though surely. We're richer than we, or any Scottish club, have ever been. If we can't be proactive now then when can we?

Sadly it’s the way we operate we are very reactive on transfers and not proactive. Actually this Kuhn piece might be a hint at being more proactive, in that selling a player quickly that wants away.

We are in an awkward position that most of our most valuable players both in terms of what we could sell them for and their contribution have reached a point of being here for 3 or 4 years, are 26-27 years old and off the back of a good Champions League campaign.

If we were as good at getting players in as selling I think we proactively would have done a rebuild this year.

Interestingly if Hatate was content to stay he probably is the lowest value of the players I mention above but I think out of him, Maeda, CCV and Johnston he is the most likely to fancy the move. However we probably get £10-12m for him, would look for similar for Johnston, CCV £15- 17.5m and Maeda north of £20m.

Back to my original point if we proactively say we are a player trading club this year we know we will sell player X you know you need a budget to replace that player and also we need a CB, CM and Striker or whatever mix. We seem to in the past wait and see what comes up.

We also clearly operate a strict policy on numbers per position. For example if we hadn’t have moved on some centre backs despite everyone bar CCV not being the best we wouldn’t have got a new one.

The last part about the numbers per position you can see why but it is annoying. Say we were unable to shift a few until the last week of the window, that shouldn't halt us bringing in their replacements and better quality beforehand.

Just take the hit financially for a spell. That's when the reactive approach really could bite you on your *.

    Find it really frustrating.

I am not saying I agree with it and totally agree it’s frustrating but it’s clearly how we operate.

We are the same with struggling to link correlation and causation with things for example our purchases of South American players have failed so we should never sign another. We have done well out of Fulham youth players so we should sign more. We got bargains out of Japan so we should sign more players from there.

You can literally see the executive of the club wheels thinking these things.

Underwhelmed so far. Apart from KT the board had better have some ‘proper’ signings lined up or the fans will have every right to be angry.

Osmand is a very strange one . At 20 years old this is a guy that Fulham have deemed not good enough to play ONE SINGLE MINUTE OF FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL. If this guy turns out to be a striker capable of mixing it at Champions league level (which is what we need) then I will happily admit someone within the Celtic scouting team must have one * of an eye for a player.

Doohan is the only real signing i question.

Otherwise the early signs are we are getting in what seem like good squad depth options which are 100% needed because of the amount of games expected to play.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see a bit of a lull in signings now and roughly near end of the month to mid August we start seeing a couple of £6mill+ signings made.

What is interesting is even though barely anything has been spent we do seem to casting our net out wide and catching players from all over the world.

Be astonished if we don't sign a couple of first team ready wingers. Our options there are dire. Preferably for the start of the league campaign.

Kvistgaarden could be about to join Norwich. Lens were considered favourites but Norwich apparently in poll now.

Rodgers is instantly on the hunt for more recruits with the early deal key as he continued: “Yes, it’s exactly that. I think it really helps us." When asked a out Khun sale
