People made similar comments about Daizen before he signed here. Also had him written off and wanted him sold after 6 months due to his often poor end product and wild crossing. Players like this are worth the gamble in my opinion, there's definitely potential to work with here.

I actually like the look of him. Fast, strong and decent movement.

For the price he'd be worth a gamble.

Despite his dry spell this season, he clearly has something about him, and we have the perfect manager to properly get him back to that form (and improve)

I get where people are coming from on spending big on a striker, but I think it was obvious early on that wasn't going to happen. Maeda was excellent at striker January onward and despite his form, Idah still got 20 goals last year, he's earned another 6 months.

Sounds very much like Maeda has wanted assurances he will be number one striker before signing that extension too. Going into the season with Maeda, idah, Yamada and Osman I’d be happy with.

spend big on a centre half and also midfielder to replace Hatate when he leaves.

if I was the club I would be looking for a defender between 24-26 who maybe isn’t going to jump at the first move away. We might not get a big return on our money but at least we’ll have that reliability for the foreseeable

Don’t know enough about him but seems like a fairly big gamble.

We’ve sold our main striker in January and haven’t replaced him. Daizen came good through the middle but with Jota out long-term, I’d rather see Daizen out left and a quality, natural striker brought in to lead the line. Rodgers had Dembele and Edouard first time around, two players who could take the ball in and link play, we have Idah who could do that but he’s not the same level.

Yamada, Osmand, Idah, Daizen - loads of options, not convinced on the quality.

Recent scouting reports about him are hardly glowing. Hope he does well though if he signs.

Think he'd do alright here if we can get his shooting boots back on. He's quick, his movement is pretty good (can play on the shoulder or drop deeper) and he isn't short of effort. Doesn't shy away from a physical battle either.

Someone said he looks a bit of a handful and I'd agree with that.

Another punt. I dont mind the odd gamble or two if we are also spending money on players capable of immediately improving our first 11. Yamada doesnt sound like hes going straight in so I hope he isnt the only forward option we sign but he may come good.

When has that stopped us before.

We've just signed a CB who going of reports is weak physically and positionally poor

It does seem a strange one if he is moving to us as it is all J league based players and a few stick ons for that squad that have been linked with moves to Europe have been left out.

Potential that he’ll see the rest of the year out in Japan maybe? Tell me if I’m wrong but didn’t Maeda join after their season finished instead of when ours started?

IIRC there hasn't been a single credible link from Japan regarding him, has there? Did it not stem from over here?

    Seems to have went quiet.

Makes more sense to allow both Japanese guys to finish their seasons then unless we think they’re good enough to immediately join the first team
