It's low risk at 250k but id he surprised if this isn't another Kwon. Would be shocked if he plays a single competitive minute under Rodgers.

 

It’s entirely possible that you’re right here, but I also feel like there’s a reason we’ve opted for him out of all the options in the J League. Might be with an eye to KT’s back up.

i’d be surprised if anyone has watched him extensively that is posting on here about him. The conversation about him though, it feels very similar to Hatate before he signed. His inexperience and where he was playing the year or so before the season we signed him, speculation about where he’d play (LB was the consensus), what he could bring, physicality and whether he could cope in Scotland having been quite new to top level football even in Japan.

I’m not expecting a Hatate level of player at all due to that similarity at all here, but there’s been something in him that we find worth it. We’ve largely left that market after Ange, for us to go back into it for Inamura (and the striker we’re linked with) then doing so, it doesn’t feel like it’s a stab in the dark, more a low cost so relatively risk free option, for something we’ve seen that we think we can develop.

I’m all for doing that, and considering other options we’ve been linked to, like the 17 year old CB we apparently have bid £5m for off the bat, then I’m happy as *. Guys like this, aren’t the main targets IMO.

I agree. Hes a near risk free punt so not really a big issue if it doesnt work out. But more likely than not he will join the ranks of guys who we never see, goes out on loan, and then we move him on in a couple of years. Hope he proves me wrong of course

 

For me it absolutely stinks of a board who know the manager is off next year and overstepping their mark once again and going back to their old ways of going to cheap markets that we have had a degree of success in and taking more punts on players regardless of if they fit the style or not.

This signing will have absolutely nothing to do with Rodgers so there's no chance he's gonna be KTs backup.

We've seen this * before, if the board sign players he doesn't know/want/rate. Ie Kwon, tillio, shved etc he simply won't play them and will continually stick 2 fingers up to them by playing Liam Scales.


On paper in isolation aye it's a low risk signing but people need to see the bigger picture here. The board are signing players that the manager doesn't want once again and once again their is a power struggle going on between the fat man in the boardroom and the man in the dugout
