I discounted the idea previously but I've been thinking about it and it seems very possible that we may play a variation of this formation next season, as Rodgers did previously when he managed Liverpool.
Although he clearly prefers 4-3--3, Rodgers has shown a willingness to adapt formations in the past if it suits the strengths of his squad.
A few points that have made me consider this:
The fact that Tierney is perfectly suited to playing left of a back 3 and so, too, is Alistair Johnston (on the other side.)
The (on the face of it) strange signing of Hayato Inamura. Pretty much the entire fanbase can see that he would be rag-dolled as a centre back in a back 4 but he could be outstanding on the left in a 3.
The fact we have a ludicrous abundance of center backs (CCV, Scales, Trusty, Welsh Lagerbielke, Nawrocki, Dane Murray, and soon Inamura too).
The proposed signing of Callum Osmand when we already have a decent 'development' striker in Kenny. More striker options would be necessary if we were to play 2 up top.
Not convinced of this one as evidence of my theory but thought I'd throw it out there as well - the signing of Benjamin Nygren, who can play in a more narrow wide midfield role. Not the archetypical Rodgers winger for his preferred 4-3-3 formation. I still think Nygren will play centrally in the O'RIley role but it's worth considering other possibilities.
Finally, I've always thought Maeda would be absolutely dynamite on the left mid in a 3-5-2 formation because he absolutely owns that entire side of the pitch. I would prefer Maeda remained as a striker but again, worth considering. That's all I can think of right now. Sorry for the long post but glad I got it off my chest.

Will be 4-3-3 as per I would imagine. No idea why these notions have grown arms and legs on here with no evidence whatsoever. Signing players who play a certain position that suits our current formation and insisting they will play a different one here to accommodate a new formation is bizarre. Number 10s , 3 at the back? We will see come the season but the safe bet would be Nygren plays RW, KT and AJ play full backs and we are 4-3-3.
We are crying out for a CB upgrade to partner CCV in a back 2 , the "abundance" are largely surplus to requirements and don't point towards 3 of them playing every week .

Rodgers seems pretty wedded to his 433. Lots of opportunities 2nd half of last season to to tinker around with it if he wanted but he was pretty rigid with how we lined up.

I see the merit in the comment. My gut sat Rogers will stick with 4-3-3, but could he experiment with a 3-5-2 or simillar to try to break the "parked-bus" a little quicker - maybe's aye......but if he does, lets hope he keeps it to the SPL, because in Europe, with the current squad and based on last year,.....Jezus that might hurt.

Probably because KT can’t and won’t play as an inside forward. He will play as a traditional full back.

Will likely go back to a double pivot like we did under Rodgers first time around.

Can't see it myself but wouldn't completely rule it out, as an available variation at least. No chance it will be our standard formation though.

4 2 3 1 with the double pivot is the most likely formation change. I'm all for this especially away from home in Europe & at Castle grey skull would certainly give our defence that extra bit of protection. This all depends if we actually sign a proper 6.

I think it will be 4-2-3-1 with the double pivot as well, for all the reasons you have mentioned, and it might bring the best out of certain players, who haven't set the heather alight, as of yet.

I think the 3-5-2 is a bridge too far for Brendan to contemplate.

I think I got a bit carried away with this one fellas. I thought I'd had a light bulb moment late last night but alas, 4-2-3-1 still seems most likely.

    Idah
    Maeda Hatate Nygren
    Engels McGregor
    Tierney Trusty CCV Johnston
    Schmeichel
If we bring in another left and right winger (assuming Kuhn is off) and a midfielder that can rotate with McGregor or Engels in the deeper role, big * of a left CB that 4-2-3-1 looks pretty solid at the back and lots of goals across the front 4.

Bold move, 39 year old Schmeichel as a no9. Let's see if it pays off..
