Said the same last summer, for the money we were talking about paying out on Idah I'd have been wanting a player that was an instant upgrade on Oh and genuinely competing to be no1, the difference is marginal if there's any at all. I think Oh has a higher ceiling, and better attitude/workrate on the pitch.

I think Oh looked a lot worse than Idah ever has.

Last season Idah sure. This season not seeing that. Still think Idah is a good backup regardless and can get better.

Can’t see Oh producing some of the performances Idah has this season. Villa away being a notable one.

Or Idah last season who was on loan, playing and producing ahead of Oh. And that was key for obviously his winning Scottish Cup Final goal, but for the league. I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to say if Idah doesn’t come on loan and we rely on Oh to do what he done, it’s very possible we don’t get the league or the cup.

And I was a fan of Oh, he’s not a bad player, he had something in him. But he had a lot of development needed, that he would not get here because in his position we wouldn’t rely on him. I think he’ll have a good career though, we made a profit on him for a reason.

He had a superb goals to minutes on the pitch ratio at us as well. But I’d be interested to see his goals in games started, it would be starkly different I think.

True, Villa game he made a huge difference. Just not doing it consistently.

Besides 1 or 2 games that Idah has played well in I really don't see much difference to be honest

Yeah, he's not been consistent enough this season which is disappointing. But I think people are being very kind to Oh with regards to the level of performance he was able to put in for us. Idah is comfortably a better player in my opinion.

KRC Genk have turned down a €10 million offer from Feyenoord for South Korean striker Oh Hyeon-gyu, insisting the 24-year-old is not for sale this summer.

According to reports in Belgium, the Rotterdam club identified Oh as a prime candidate to lead their line next season and made formal enquiries into his availability. However, Genk responded firmly with a refusal, making clear that the forward remains untouchable.

Despite Feyenoord’s willingness to put forward a substantial offer, Genk see Oh as their first-choice striker going into the new campaign. The Belgian side expect current top scorer Tolu Arokodare to depart this summer, with Premier League clubs and Saudi Pro League sides showing strong interest in the Nigerian, and are planning to build around Oh in his absence.

The former Celtic man joined Genk last year and spent much of his debut season as an impact substitute. Nevertheless, he made a notable impression, scoring 12 goals in all competitions, and has now positioned himself as a central figure in the club’s plans.

Genk’s resolve to keep Oh comes as other key players are also attracting serious interest. Earlier today, it emerged that Christopher Bonsu Baah is closing in on a move to Saudi Arabia, further highlighting the demand for talent at the Limburg-based club.

While the transfer window is heating up across Europe, Genk appear determined to resist major departures unless absolutely necessary. And for now, Oh Hyeon-gyu is going nowhere.

Not surprised. Think he had potential, just didn't work here

A club knocking back a bid for one of their top players despite having opportunity to double their money on him.

    What's that like?

I don't know what's more shocking, that anyone would bid £8.5m for him or that anyone would knock it back.

See being fair he definitely had something about him, hence why a team offered us our money back and almost double when you included add ons.

For me he had a sliding doors moment when he tried to * McCrory when through 1v1 at Ibrox and hit the post. We had a total change side out and got battered that day but had just went 1-0 down and that was a chance to get right back level and he missed it and essentially hid the rest of the game.

If true Feyenoord offered that sort of cash I am surprised he wasn’t sold. Mind you see their main striker that is being linked with a big move it wouldn’t surprise me if he flopped at the top level, I think he is a good player and physically massive but technically he is quite limited and against better defenders I doubt he gets as many goals. Therefore, you could see Oh replace him and do well.

He got 13 goals and 3 assists in 41 games last season.

10 million euros seems a bit of a mental bid for him, unless he's not an out and out striker anymore.

    I'm surprised, not gonna lie.

Physically looked good for it but his touch, finishing, dribbling etc all erratic as *.

Including WC qualifications group games with South Korea since October 2024 he's got a other 4 goals in very minimal minutes.

So for the season just finished he's sitting on roughly 1081 minutes played. 16 goals and 3 assists across club and country.

He's literally maintained a strangely fantastic goals per minute ratio across multiple clubs now (Celtic to Genk) as well as taking that odd talent to International stage with Korea.

There clearly a talent there that needs nurturing that at this stage obviously has a sight for goal, I don't think that's really up for debate anymore with a goals involvement nearly every 57 minutes played last season and at.most points, having similar stats when at celtic, if you as a footballer weren't up to much, then to me it seems incredibly unlikely that you'd be able to carry that type of stat regarding goal involvement per minutes across different clubs and leagues. That to me is evidence of clearly a talent lying in there that could do well with the right set up and coaching.

Personally, not surprised in the slightest that in this day and age, where there seems to be a lot of chatter about the missing old school number 9 who is just a goalscorer, that guys like Oh are likely now getting a lot of interest.

Played about 3 minutes total though as he was doing for us. Feyenoords scouts are top level, they’ve definitely seen something if they’re bidding that much
