Celtic have slapped a new price tag of £15-20million for star man Nicolas Kuhn this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hoops are in a strong position with the 25-year-old under contract at Parkhead until June 2029.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (16 June) that RB Leipzig will have the financial muscle to do a dealdespite missing out on European qualification.

However, it is believed a final decision will be down to the player with Celtic potentially able to offer Champions League football – if they can navigate through their qualifying campaign.

RB Leipzig may also find a potential £20million outlay too hard to bear after allowing Kuhn to join Ajax in 2018 for a fee of around £1.7million.

In any case, Celtic stand to make a huge profit on the winger after spending a fee of just £3million to land him in January 2024.

Kuhn looks set to be the next big departure from Parkhead – following in the footsteps of club-record sale Matt O’Riley, who joined Brighton in 2024.

The ex-Rapid Vienna star hit 21 goals and notched 15 assists in the 2024-25 campaign as Celtic won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup.

He impressed against top opposition in the Champions League as Brendan Rodgers’ side were eliminated by Bayern Munich at the knockout playoff stage.

Tbh, I'd sell him now. I don't think he'll hit the same numbers again for us. So that's hits us on the field and off the field as he'll never command a higher fee than he does now.

I honestly don't think he's season as a whole will be difficult to replace, especially with the names that are being thrown about.

£18 mill for me and would be fine with him going. Numbers for the season are great but was a tale of two halves. And the last 6 months he’s been nowhere near as effective, so question whether he can find that form next season. Ultimately the model is to develop and sell, think he will be away and for a good price. So important he is replaced with quality

I'd take £15M and a 30% sell-on... I'd imagine the next move will be his biggest... We'd have gotten a good season, £12M profit and a chunk of money in the pipeline... Unlikely though, so I'd want nearer to £20M on the nose...

    A tale of 3 halfs.

The half season when he signed

The 1st half of last season

The 2nd half of last season.

2 outta 3 were pretty poor.

May just have been the greatest purple patch of all time.

Always remember we held onto Ntcham when the bids started to come in and he just fell off a cliff right after it and lost all value, think 16-18 mil range is a good deal for us for a player who has had a good spell but overall is still not the best winger at the club and should be able to be upgraded on.

Yeah take the money and run, don’t think he wants to be here anymore so cash in and see ye later… unfortunately, because there’s a player in there. But we can’t afford to have players who only turn it on when they feel like it.

Im rarely in the "punt our most productive players" camp. But you just get the feeling that he's wanting off.

    I'd take £20M all day

Honestly I don’t even think it’s that, I think he lacks a bit of heart in general. He’s the ultimate of being unplayable when we’re playing well.

When we aren’t though, then he’s not even mentioned in the game, can stand behind defenders not available for a pass.

There was one game he showed he can, when we were actually playing well but took a blow during the game by conceding first against RBL. And he was not * having it, he was inspiring, he demanded fhe ball, demanded attacking intent from players around him, scored an incredible goal and then was there for a tap in when the others were * inspired.

And that, that more than anything for every other game he doesn’t bother sticks in my mind. Cos it’s a choice to not, to hide, because he’s shown he can against real quality.

Clyde were saying it looks like a £15m bid is incoming, if we could try and get 20% to 30% sell on similar to Frimpong I’d do it. Without a hefty sell on though, I’d accept £19m which is more realistic if £15m is an opening bid. That suggests to me they won’t want to breach £20m, and £19m really what’s the difference anyway. £1m doesn’t do much for us anymore, and this summer is what I think would be his peak fee. I’m not certain another season here, he’d keep up the level for the money we’re talking. *, if we don’t play any German teams in the CL I’m 99% certain of it.

It reminds me of the summer we turned down £14m for Ntcham from Porto. We were certain his talent after a year we’d be talking £25m. Not as a player but mentally they two remind me so much of each other.

Seemed to have chucked it after the Bayern game. Played like he thought he was too good for Scottish football.
His heart and mind have already left. Take £18m and let the rest of him go as well.

Celtic price tag on exciting winger

The Magpies have taken a long hard look at Celtic star throughout the winter months with scouts making the journey to Scottish Premiership games last season to see Nicolas Kuhn.

The Germany-born winger is left-footed but likes to play on the right-hand side and grabbed an impressive 21 goals and 15 assists last season in Scotland.

With his future looking uncertain Celtic have slapped a £15million price tag on the star this summer and there is already interest from RB Leipzig.

As Newcastle assess other options on their shortlist, after being quoted a big price for Anthony Elanga, Kuhn could yet be an option for United. Anybody questioning whether Kuhn can do it on the big Premier League stage may note that he scored three goals and made on assist in the Champions League last season too.

If he's gonna go I'd like it to be done soon..

If he wasn't so huffy, I'd have been wanting him to play our champions league qualifier, then thanks and cheerio.....but there's no way with a move imminent that I'd trust him..

Aye definitely need to try get the situation dealt with ASAP, if he wants out just get it done. £15 mil is acceptable under the circumstances, if he'd kept up even close to his earlier season form I'd be saying accept nothing less that double that.

I think it’s a good sign the support is so happy to sell a player like Kuhn. In the old days everyone used to panic when speculation would come around our best players as if we’d never replace them. It’s genuinely good to see we’re moving past that.

In terms of Kuhn going, for me it’s simple. If he wants to go, get him out the door ASAP assuming there’s a fair offer. I would say a fair offer is around £15m, but we’d be right to ask for more. I’d push for more if there’s multiple offers.

I wouldn’t let a good deal walk out the door though trying to push for £20m+. I wouldn’t want that reputation among players either given our excellent track record.

As good as Kuhn is, I’m very confident we could replace him with that kind of money and strengthen the team in other areas too.
