Gronbaek is heavily linked with a loan to buy for €10m to Genoa just in the last couple of days.

I would imagine Rieder would be available for a similar sum if not less if you would just take him on a transfer.

Rennes have a squad of 40 they want down to 25, their new sporting director was talking to the press earlier this week about needing to move players on before bringing more in.

 

So, around £8m for Gronbaek on a loan to buy? We would be absolutely crazy to not look at that deal, in my opinion. Rieder at a similar price as well? Would be crazy business.

 

The Gronbaek deal is being reported by media as Genoa interest and that being the deal discussed.

Rieder I am speculating based on they paid the same for him a season earlier as they did for Gronbaek and he has been identified as surplus to requirements so it would seem a fair assumption they would be open to a similar deal on Rieder.

 

You could definitely play both as 8s. You could also drop Rieder back as a deep lying 6 to play alongside Engels and rest McGregor and then play Gronbaek as a 10.

I want both, now.

 

Yeah both very good players Rennes just seem like a bin fire as our own Kyogo found out.

Rieder even played off the right handside for Stuttgart on occasion in the CL last year.

Gronbaek sounds like that deal with Genoa for a loan with a €10m option is moving forward quite fast so that’s probably unlikely unfortunately.

Don't know what he'd cost but he's clearly gonna be playing at a high level wherever he ends up. Someone like this as a backup under a top right winger would work well..

Supposedly we are looking at him according to that report already. I must say their is absolutely real potential here. He's robust, aggressive, great stamina, good offence/defence. Could mature into a real good 6/8 with us.

I actually looked him up the other day out of of curiosity and it seems like after the halfway point of his loan, with the exception of a game against PSG, he was generally getting less game time:





I don’t know what the full story is there, if it’s just a case of him not being fancied or whatever, but there was obviously a bit of a drop off towards the end.

You do wonder though if guys like him, fairly young and probably on a relatively lower wage, are the sort that are Lyon are more likely to try and keep around.

 

Judging solely on the final league position for Le Harve, i wonder if they started to favour someone less young/inexperienced to see them beat relegation as the season neared it's end?
Less time to afford to a youngster they were going to sign permanently (at the time of knowing), when the league survival was at risk?
