I found the whole thing of him leaving to get into the Japan team quite funny considering Maeda played every game at the world Cup whilst with us and Hatate regularly makes squads. It's quite obvious the manager just doesn't fancy him.

He left because he wanted to try something new and you can't knock him for that but Rennes was a * choice and Birmingham is just...mental.

What I would say is he will get a good wage there. They've offered that Poku who the Huns are after 30 bags a week. Imagine Kyogo will be on upwards of that.

I don't think it is a bad move really. They will be going for the play offs and will be funded well. He will earn a decent wage and be in a team thar wins regularly.

If you told me at the end of his first season with us he’d be at Birmingham in 2025 I’d have thought you’re at it.

His advisors haven’t done him any favours by putting him in two of the leagues least suited to his skillset imo.

It was time to go but he’ll understand grass is very rarely greener than us.

His agent must be up there with the worst ever.

He needs to swap to whoever Chuppo-Motings agent is

Would be quite a signing for Birmingham, he’ll score for fun in that league. Though would pretty much end his chances of getting game time for Japan.

I think sitting on the bench at Rennes has done that.

And also he will have a chance internationally if they get promoted or play offs. Ao tanaka at Leeds didn’t play for the national team as much as he does now he’s playing well at Leeds

They spent £16 mil on a young striker last year who helped them get into the championship. There’s no guarantee kyogo would go there and be first choice

Any team that are good enough for him to think is a good move and strong team won’t be guaranteed. And if he expects that guarantee then it’ll be his downfall, I think he might want that guarantee though because he had it here with Ange.

There’s times I thought he shouldn’t, and it was poor treatment of Giakomakis but Ange standing by him through they patches GG probably should have came in he repaid majorly, the 2nd season particularly ending up over 30 goals. Around November most managers would have dropped him, and he should have been. Ange knew he was getting the long term out of him by standing by him I think and it worked.

He won’t have that situation anywhere else. Ange was * ruthless and the squad knew it, he put an arm around Kyogo when he had a guy very able to replace him and said you’re our man. I can’t really think of another example of that at any club. Usually it happens because they don’t have anyone to come in. We had someone arguably as good, in a different way

*. Birminghan feckin City, the 3rd team in the city, long standing basket case of a club now with Tom Brady, just promoted with toxic fan base and likely to struggle.

Hope wee man stays patient for EPL or top of championship or maybe Spain / Japan - Birmingham would be a (another) disasterous move.

If I was Russel Martin I'd be taking a wee look also....:fear:

Think they’re probably more likely to be within promotion or play offs at least than struggling. They’ll happily outspend the rest of the league even the teams parachute payments.

Wrexham gets the talk of it but Birmingham are spending a lot more, bigger wages, bigger transfer fees, they bought someone for £16m in League 1 last season. * ridiculous.

Promoted with 111 points in the league, they won’t struggle.

and if they’re buying in players like Kyogo, likely as backup striker, I can’t see how they won’t just go straight up this season.

They seem to have learned a well earned lesson from going down, with the Rooney experiment and that. They’ve stabilised

I don't think Wrexham will, I think they actually struggle but Birmingham are a bit more prepared with a team of players who've played in top flights or the championship.
