Celtic's 2025/26 Summer transfer window: needed and wanted!

Last year or the year before I'm sure.
Possibly the year before.

Was tlak of us breaking our, then, transfer record for him, but it never seemed to come of anything.

Was also one of those early in the window rumours that died off.
The kind we get spun often (as we are currently as well), and why plenty of ha have been stung by this early summer positivity, only to be let down later.

It's set to be a hectic summer for Celtic and the business has already begun.

Callum Osmand is on his way from Fulham and a deal for Benji Nygren is close. Other wide players and a centre-half are also priorities while a Kieran Tierney left-back deputy and a central midfield player are on the list.

The recruitment staff, then, have been working around the clock to bring players to Parkhead.

But while the likes of Paul Tisdale and Jay Lefevre are snowed under, Michael Nicholson will also have work to do in a bid to bring cash in for the misfits at the club who have no future at Lennoxtown.

We provide an inside look at some of the fringe players at Celtic who may have kicked their last ball in green and white.







Marco Tilio

The Australian spent last season on loan with Melbourne City and the A League outfit are understood to hold an interest in keeping him beyond his stint. That is, however, unlikely to happen at least for the time being.

We understand Rodgers wants the 23-year-old to return to Lennoxtown to get a good look at the player in first-team training before he makes any decisions. The manager has not seen much of the wide player on the grass and wants a proper look before planning his future.




Gustaf Lagerbielke

Lagerbielke simply did not work out at Celtic and he'll move on from the club this summer. The Swede has swapped agents in recent times to join the team who moved Carl Starfelt and Giorgos Giakoumakis out of Glasgow.

We understand FC Twente are unwilling to stump up the asking price the Hoops have placed on his head so that won't happen following his loan last season. But there is interest from other European clubs and it's likely he'll move on for close to the price he was signed for.



Stephen Welsh

The defender has enjoyed his spell at Mechelen in Belgium and he may well have played his final game for Celtic following that move. Welsh will be moved on with a handshake and a thank you following years of loyalty and almost 70 first-team appearances.




Kwon

There’s an acknowledgement from sources inside Celtic that the Korean midfielder needs to now find a new club he can call home. He spent time on loan with both St Mirren and Hibs and both clubs' sets of fans loved the player, and that seems to be his level.

He will quietly be allowed to depart this summer, we suspect, and Celtic are already on the lookout for a sale.



Odin Holm

The Norwegian remains on loan with LAFC until the end of the year and that should keep him busy. We understand manager Rodgers does like Holm and the talent he possesses but there are reservations on his work rate that the Northern Irishman is looking for the 22-year-old to step up and show he fits at LT upon his return in 2026.




Luis Palma

Celtic may not recoup the cash they spent on Palma but the board, it's understood, are looking to move him on regardless. He will definitely have interest in the MLS as he did last summer and in January.

Olympiacos don't look likely to trigger the permanent clause in the loan deal he signed with the Honduran only making 12 appearances for the Greek giants. But with the Hoops on the hunt for more than one winger incoming, it means Palma's time in Glasgow is essentially up.

 

Palma was subbed off at half time last night getting battered by Canada. He has to go this window at all costs for any fee..

Lagerbielke I've no doubt we'll get a good fee for..

Welsh again for an ok fee im sure will go..

Kwon we may struggle with. I'd be tempted to try and offer him back to South Korea for nothing and take the small hit..

Tilio hopefully we can get a fee for from someone im Europe. A move back on loan to Australia should be off the cards..

As for incomings. No striker mentioned, must be Maeda as the main man..

Bit better hearing what we're targeting as we all know what's needed..

 

They were only 2 down when Palma came off, not sure he's to blame for that.

 

I'm no saying he was to blame but he's the poster boy over there and hooked at half time. Says a lot for me..

We need shot of him. He's one that if we don't get rid of this summer, will go out on loan again and barely do anything, giving us less chance of a fee..

I just get that vibe..

I know the window has only just opened this week, this isn't a panic post - but so much for the early deals, ahead of the game - a week before the window opened, we had about 5 lined up to sign apparently.
Now, we have signed Tierney on a free - a signing we all knew was gonna happen a year ago (presigned months ago) and a 17 year old we have publicly announced as signing for the B squad.

Could see 3 by tomorrow, could see 3 by next week and it would still be good early business.
But it's already starting to feel like the optimism of last week is the usual early summer optimism that never comes true.

Not really sure why Osmand hasn’t been announced yet.

Sky Sports said he passed his medical 9 days ago. Talk about ripping the * out of it.

 

Is the boy not on holiday. We do like a big reveal so maybe just waiting on him returning

 

He's on holiday. Osmand and Doohan will still have contracts at their respective clubs until the end of this month so we may be waiting until we are all back.

Don't know when the players are back from their holidays but the fact McCowan and Engels are still on holiday, you would expect to see them back next week sometime. Should see some confirmation on deals then, hopefully.

International players get a couple of extra days holiday

 

Need to address the CB postion. CCV is a stick on. I would give Trusty more of a run before completely ruling him out. But Rodgers doesn't seem to fancy him.

Scales cannot be starting next season as a starter. Wouldn't imagine Nawrocki, Welsh or Lagerbielke have a future at the club.

Dane Murray isn't involved and Inamura would be absolutely underwhelming as a LCB. More questions than answers at the moment regarding our defence currently.

 

Rodgers first year he was linked. It was the * who got everything right on the Rodgers deal over at KDS then said we would be breaking the transfer record multiple times, only to disappear and never be seen again. Can't remember his name. We were heavily linked then.

Osmand is at Lennoxtown apparently. Hopefully see this announced tonight or tomorrow morning.
