Celtic's 2025/26 Summer transfer window: needed and wanted!

Looking at those figures. They are almost identical to the salary sport website. The thing i really liked when i saw that salary website. Was that most of our solid dependable first teamers are on roughly 12k to 19k, and we only had 3 key players earning more than 20k. When i looked at the SEVCO squad, they had about 11 of their players “earning” more than £20K a week. The people at our club doing the contract work are getting good value for money and thats great to see.

 

Does anyone think those numbers are actually accurate?

I don't have a clue, hoping the development squad wages are a good bit higher as those aren't much above minimum wage, which is shocking.

 

I disagree the development lads need to prove their worth and get the bigger contract.

 

Fair enough but I do think they deserve more as it's a high risk career that involves a lot of sacrifice and dedication which also means they've likely not taken other opportunities.

Salaries that low say we don't value them is how I personally see it. Still interested to hear if the numbers are likely to be accurate. As if not this whole discussion is different.

The summer transfer window opens this morning with the Parkhead club keen to move quickly to secure more new players.

Kieran Tierney’s return has been confirmed on a five year deal. Nordsjaelland’s Swedish international winger Benjamin Nygren is close to signing for £2million.

Teenage Fulham striker Callum Osmand is also close to finalising a cross border move to Glasgow, while goalkeeper Ross Doohan has agreed a pre-contract move from Aberdeen as Scott Bain’s replacement.


Parkhead scouts have also tracked Red Star Belgrade’s teenage defender Veljko Milosavljevic and the club are in the market for another winger in anticipation of bids for Nicholas Kuhn later in the window.

The German wide man, shortlisted for PFA Scotland player of the season, could be one of a number of players to attract interest this summer.

Scotland defender Greg Taylor is close to moving overseas under freedom of contract while Leeds United and Sunderland have been credited with an interest in key central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Midfielder Hatate is also keen to test himself in a top five league, while last season’s top scorer Maeda has yet to agree to a new contract.

 

£200 per week is peanuts and you can't live off that. You'd earn more working part time in Lidl. If its true we pay that then that's disgraceful.

 

To give credit where it's due, the window's opened and we're actually linked with some players. In past years, the window's been closing and it feels like we've not been linked with anyone, so that's at least something.

On the other hand, it feels like a return to cheapy punts after some big money perhaps unwisely spent last summer. Tierney's the marquee signing but I'm hoping we actually sign someone else where it's like that guy starts from now on. That's what gets you excited for the new season.

Funnily enough the boy that was discussed the. Fabian Rieder is available from Rennes as they are looking to sell off a lot of players. He was on loan at Stuttgart last year and didn’t do enough to get signed permanently. All be it he looks a decent player the boy.

Albert Groenbaek is another they want to move on to who is a decent player.
