If he was that good he'd be staying and playing at Fulham or moving to another Premier league side. I've nothing against the lad but he has 'project' written all over him. If he comes good and is a success for us I'll happily admit I was wrong and be the first to congratulate him but don't try to make out we've landed some superstar on the cheap. There's nothing to suggest that atm. Being 'tipped' for this or that means nothing. Glen Kamara was 'tipped' for a move to Juventus. Butland was 'tipped' for an England call-up.

What you on about? I'm calling you out about your nonsense over Japanese defenders. He might end up being * , or he might end up the next Hiroki Ito. Let's be honest, it has cheap punt written all over it. Four times out of five they go nowhere but it's like a million wasted so no one cares. Every chance he's just been brought in to give Maeda or Hatate someone to talk to after the other one leaves.

 

Went and watched a couple of games out of curiosity. He looks alright. Similar style to Scales in the way he tries to progress the ball but technically far better with more range to his passing and plays a pass with a lot more crisp. He pretty much starts most of the build up play for Niigata.

Defensively, thought he showed good positional awareness, he's alert and vocal but as other members have pointed out, he's not imposing and he's not really one that's gonna be flying in with tackles. He seems to prefer interceptions and blocking.

Keeping my expectations low after Kobayashi but if he can adjust to the physical side of the game here, he could be an interesting one...

There is nothing wrong with these punts in isolation.

The odd gen we’ll stumble upon but recruitment is that locked in now, how do we find someone nobody more attractive hasn’t found.

 

If its an isolated incident then sure.

But i find it hard to believe this is a Rodgers signing. Nor a "doctor football" recommendation. We clearly have scouts in Japan and the club are putting their hand into Rodgers' transfer kitty.

Looks to me like history is repeating itself.

 

For me the issue is one we've seen before.

Scouts/recruitment are bringing in good players but not necessarily ones that fit the way we play or the league we play in

We need to be buying more youngsters for low fees and punting then out on loan immediately.

 

Tierney isn't a CB he is coming as LB or on the odd occasion LCB of a 3

 

Not really, we need a left back in where as with Shved we already had a lot of wingers in but did freshening in the squad.

Players will be scouted based on what Rodgers wants, think difference this time round is Rodgers will want the final say on all transfers. He’s not exactly got the best track record with transfers either.
