    Aye I agree.

I just wonder whether Rodgers is even gonna give him the chance.

I think Scales is generally better on the ball in the run of the mill SPL games when he has ample time and space. Hes more ambitious at bringing the ball out of defence and moving the ball forward. He needs an awful a lot of time on the ball though and this becomes a weakness against better opposition when he starts trying to play beyond his means. Trusty is more limited in terms of what he tries to do on the ball but keeping it simpler rather than playing beyond is preferable against better opposition I think.

On the basis of last season Id say neither Scales or Trusty are at the level we would want to push us forward. A season may be too early to dismiss Trusty, but I think with Scales we have seen enough of him now though to say hes probably hit his ceiling as a player and that ceiling isnt strong enough for a starting position in the team.

I honestly don't think there's much to pick between Trusty and Scales. He's fine but he's not £6m worth of fine. If anyone ever comes in with an offer near that, move him on.

If we are going to progress as a team, Trusty needs to be moved on, he is never going to develop/improve.
Not much between him and Scales but for me, Scales is better on the ball.

Yep, Scales better on the ball whilst Trusty is quicker and arguably the better backs-to-the-wall defender (in Europe). I think the issue is that Trusty’s deficiencies have a noticeable impact on the team’s ability to play out of defence against any coherent opposition press, which is a bit of a problem in Rodger’s’ system.

Although we may not be actively shopping them, I think if a reasonable offer comes in for either you’d have to think long and hard about cutting your losses and reinvesting.

I'm fine if we keep him (In Europe he's been great), but if we don't, I'll not be too fussed.

He had a Jullien esque game against a physical ST and that's constituted a lot of 'hate' since. It's harsh I'd say.

Let's see how the 5ft 11, Japanese CB handles it as well! Christ.

He had two absolute shockers in the post split games , gifted a couple of goals in both and was shaky as *. Nothing to do with "hammer throwers" or refs either. Sclaffed a clearance straight to Boyle for a goal in one and didn't pick up his marker in the other a week later, boy ran straight off him for a free header in the 6 yard box, was two schoolboy performances.

So only 2 bad performances.. How'd you survive when Daniel Majstorović was our main stay at the back? :56:

    CCV has us spoiled.

I really hope someone comes in for Trusty and Scales. I said last season Trusty was really poor playing out and has also proven to be quite dodgy defensively. Scales is hardly better going forward as his reaction and play is always so slow and hesitant. Actually all of our centre backs always chooses to pass sideways which is not great to watch and slows down our attacks

What about the good games he had before at the highest level do those just get ignored?

I think Trusty has some stuff to prove but if we are wanting to improve or get rid then we should be targeting a better level of player than the Japanese guy for example. I also think he deserves at least another 6 months or so.

I think Rodgers knocked his confidence big time and wrongly so when he subbed him off at half time in the final against the huns..

Aye he was having a bad game but Taylor was worse. Then Scales came on, got done for one of the goals and should've gave a penalty away in extra time..

Infact Scales then started the next hun game and was miles worse than Trusty ever was. He was scandalously *..

Trusty has had some mega big game performances. Being aggressive and his pace being vital at the back..

He has admittedly had a few shockers domestically dallying on the ball and being mentally fragile when roughed up..

If he can iron out the above and settle after a pre season and getting used to the game, the pace and physicality and the newborn, then all day long I'd keep him. The problem is, Rodgers doesn't seem to rate him and the signs are ominous..

Pity as well as when he's on it, he's a far better centre half the Scales..

Not only 2 bad performances at all , 2 recent ones off the top of my head in the last 3 weeks of the season , as an argument against the notion that he's not rated based on one game where he got ragdolled. He's been a liability at the back on plenty of occassions over the course of last season . There were numerous games he was poor and the vast majority on here accepted it. No idea why history is being rewritten post season. He may get better next season and settle but if you think he had a good season you're kidding yourself on , can't believe I'm even having to make this point. He had a few really good games and a fair few poor ones, I'm amazed that isn't the general consensus now .

He failed to oust Scales over the course of the season - so that kinda tells its own story. We didnt buy him for 6M to be Scales back up. If he had a good season hed have nailed down that starting slot. I thought he started off pretty well but seemed to get worse as the season went on (like quite of few of the squad).

He could be better next year of course. But can only really judge on what we have seen so far.

    Agreed on all this.

I want Rodgers to stay and always been a fan but his management of the CB situation has been weird, for me.

He said he took Trusty off in that game as Scales could manage the game better and he proceeded to have a howler. Think the way he handled it was awful.

We should be aiming for better than both, but if Scales is still our starter this season I'll despair tbh.
