Absolute basket case of a post...'he's not what we're needing', 'he'd be better in Italy', 'not totally against us signing him'
'don't see it as a good move for us'...

Any other bases ye want to cover?

No I think I covered what I intended to thanks. I don't think he's ready for us and I don't think he'll develop into what we really need if he comes to us, mainly due to lack of pace, but also due to lack of regular minutes, playing regularly in a league with better oponents would be better for him. I think he'd be fine for squad cover, which is why I'm not totally against it, but for the price he'd cost that's not what we are needing so the money would be better spent elsewhere.

Not in Scottish football terms I’d say 9m is the new 6m like when we bought Sutton

A £10M punt from an English team is like us lobbing in a £4Mish bid... And if we did match/slightly raise it, I'd assume they'd just go to £12M without flinching (about £5M equivalent for them)... The money they have for bids/personal terms is outwith our ability to compete with...

Personally, I'd be disappointed if we bid that much... Could be proven wrong, but it'd be a risky move on our part, when we could pick up similar/better for less elsewhere... Shame, as there's a good player there, but at that money we're better to stop faffing about and stand clear

It's nowhere near that simple though is it. Why would any club on earth sign Miller if they can just go and get "better for less elsewhere"? Clubs will pay the fee for him because they think that's the best they can get at that price. We may feel that way, if that's how highly we rate him.

We as fans shouldn't worry about the fee - assuming it's not bonkers - as habitual lowballers, it's very rare we overpay.

If Brendan thinks price is right for the player and it's who he really wants versus everyone else in our price range, then don't * about, bring him home.

But if EPL clubs are in, walk away - let's not compete in an auction.

Noticed he had the most defensive interceptions at Motherwell last season. 39. CCV had 37 for us, in contrast.

I definitely see his long term future as a sitting player. Particularly given his pace.

Kinda what makes me believe he's the ideal successor to mcgregor.

Mentioned before about his defensive side standing out. Interceptions, defensive awareness in cutting stuff out and his pressing..

"No Scottish Premiership midfielder won possession more often than Celtic captain Callum McGregor last season.

The former Scotland international made 214 recoveries across 35 league games, 11 more than Motherwell's Lennon Miller in second"

Different stat but remember reading this the other day.

Quite impressive he's even in second.

Definitely not as attack minded as folk think.

Like you say he's got a lot of similar attributes to be a successor to McGregor.

You think we can't get better than Miller for £10M+? My point is that English clubs can bid that kind of money because it's not so impactful for them. That's a serious hike on the numbers we were looking at spending already, and we'd need to bid against them to get him... I'd be severely disappointed if we used our budget that way...

Is it not ironic you make a few points on lack of pace, and then we look at your avatar?

Still think he’ll go abroad, but apparently Stephen McManus has been in his ear big time about coming here for a few years and time being on his side to go abroad after he’s picked up some winners medals.

Apparently he knows him well from Mick’s spell at Motherwell and they’re also part of the same agency group. One of the sport science lads who came across from Motherwell with McManus has been bigging up the facilities and working under Rodgers as well.

I still think he’ll go abroad, but it seems we’re at least making our case.

Is Hamill still working for us? Ex Motherwell manager.

Someone else who could bend an ear and will know his da.

At the very least I do believe we will be making a case for it.
