I actually wouldn't be against this as our LB target, looks quick and good on the ball.

As a CB? Not as keen.

Given the number of games Tierney may miss, would ideally like someone who's been playing LB regularly to act as understudy.

This would be quite a risk. More so than someone like Mills or even the Japanese guy at Djurgardens

Worth a punt for what he would cost

Main concern for me is his team being in the relegation zone.

Would prefer someone more experienced as our back up left back. As others have said, as a centre half not a chance. He'd get eaten up in the SPFL.

In the videos, he is definitely not a left back. He maybe could play there in a pinch but he's a cultured centre back. I have serious reseevations about Asian centre backs in general (though Ko Itakura has proven himself to be a very classy operator in the Bundesliga) but maybe, just maybe, this guy will be the real deal! It would be very handy to have that kind of top class distribution from the back.

    Board never learn.

We know exactly how this singing will go.

He's not a Rodgers signing so the 1st time he makes any kind of mistakes Rodgers will bin him, never to be seen again and we will be left with Scales playing at left back in champions league after we've ran Tierney into the ground by November.

But ah * it at least he's cheap.

He would be signed as a CB , he's a ball playing left footed CB , so hopefully third time lucky after Scales and Trusty.

BBC reporting we are looking at this lad as cover for LB which is fine. If we sign him as a LCB I will feel underwhelmed. I've never seen this guy play so I could be proved wrong but he doesn't look very physical from the reels I've seen him in & I'm getting Kobayashi vibes unfortunately.

Serious Kobayashi vibes. He was actually taller than this guy. This lad has 59% aerial success rate and that's in Japan..

Not convinced he improved on Scales or Trusty. Which concerns me as it would suggest we are still going with them as a partner for CCV. This is really underwhelming.

Hopefully we plan to bring another more experienced option in.

Problem is he’s another punt in an area we’re already overstocked with duds. We have umpteen CBs and the only reliable one is CCV.

Scales, Trusty, Nawrocki, Lagerbielke and Welsh. Any of those could leave and we wouldn’t miss them.

This would be more palatable if we had two steady first team centre backs, a good understudy and then this guy coming in as 4th choice CB.

Actually looks like the sort of guy we should be signing and loaning out for a season. Low risk, potentially high reward.

I juat don't think it's a market we should be using to get defenders. Certainly not CBs, other than Takai the big 6ft 4 one. He's an anomaly.

To be a CB in Scotland this guy would need to be pretty special coming from Japan and given his physical attributes and stats for aerial challenges etc.

Players from Europe struggle with the pace and physicality here.

Even the fact he looks good on the ball, I remember thinking Kobayashi looked like Beckenbauer. But he had so much time and space, massive pitches too.

This guy does not play LB, and that is a problem. I wouldn't sign him just to be a CB.

What is a Rodgers signing? He's not going to personally scout all players and I'm sure he gets this stuff run past him. If he dislikes it that much he can put up a fuss.

I'd not be too concerned about the league positions in Japan. Its a league that no one really has a strong hold on and a bottom half team one season can be title challenging the next. Make of that what you will in regards the level/competition, but we've had good success generally from Japan and the fact we are back in that market after two seasons is quite good actually. Also seems less lazy of jumping on the back of Ange and that maybe, just maybe, we are scouting the league properly.
