That's where they played fairly well. It helped us progress so :39:

I don’t mind either in the squad, think they’ve shown up well in Europe etc… but my preference would be someone nearer the level of CCV to partner him.

If we go into next season with that as our first choice pairing it'd be a disaster tbh.

I'm fine with seeing more of Trusty as could be a bit of Kelvin Wilson syndrome there and actually think he showed up well in europe but I cba with Scales now. Think we could easily improve there and we know his ceiling.

We did progress this year. We actually done * brilliant. A second away from taking Bayern all the way in the knockouts. Hopefully with Tierney and a couple good signings we can continue this way and possibly squeeze another round out.

I just think it would be such a wasted opportunity when you think of what the back 4 could be next season … Tierney, CCV, a quality centre back and AJ is as good as a defence as we’ve had in a very long time …

We need to buy a partner for CCV this summer. If he goes we need two new CBs .
The idea of Scales and Trusty starting together is scary.

Yes, we did well against Bayern and, in a favourable group, did well in Europe however, do you honestly believe that if we got a harder group in Europe we would do well?. We will need better than Scales and Trusty (as well as in other areas of the team) if we genuinely want to progress in Europe

Not saying we don't, just pointing out they actually did well when there was no other options.

CCV is a solid CB but if he goes we should easily replace him, I think Scales is maturing into a ball playing CH but Trusty just scares me as we've seen more than a few mistakes from him that have cost us, it's like he's no ball control with balls bouncing off him rather than him taking control of the situation with a clearance or pass.

There’s no doubt if CCV was sold we need to be looking at bringing in two players for the position. Centre back is probably the best example of us having numbers but lacking in quality there is

    1. CCV
    2. Scales
    3. Trusty
    4. Welsh
    5.Nawrocki
    6. Lagerbielke
    7. Murray
    8. Agbaire

I think all of the above could play for a team in the Scottish Premiership (not all necessarily our level.)

Three of them Rodgers doesn’t fancy Welsh, Lagerbielke and Nawrocki so they should all be sold and I reckon you get a minimum £5m for them given Welsh and Lagerbielke both had decent loans, quite probably a couple million more. I also think even if you loaned out Nawrocki and put no option or an inflated option close to what we paid for him you would get most of what we paid back as I don’t think he’s a bad player for mid to lower team in Serie A, the Bundesliga or mid to high Championship team in England.

Dane Murray’s biggest problem is he can’t stay fit long enough to determine his level and he has missed a lot of development due to injuries.

Agbaire to me is someone we should look to try bring through as he has the raw attributes to be a good centre back, he’s athletic, both in terms of strength and pace, is a threat in the air at 6’3 and for a big guy looked to have good composure on the ball with the limited I saw of him. He has another year on his deal we probably should look to get him out to play either in the Premiership up here or top of league 1 down south, if he will sign an extension and worst case you get some cash for him, best case he comes back as a 21 year old, home grown counting player with a full season under his belt.

Trusty, I actually don’t mind but given Rodgers doesn’t seem to rate him I think we should be cashing in on a good showing in the CL, I think a team in Bundesliga or even one in MLS who pay well or maybe even Ligue 1 would take him for his physical attributes. Where we might not get the £5.5-6m we paid back I think we could get most of it based on his CL appearances.

Scales will still be here given all the other upheaval but he should be back up left centre back at best and play a Ralston type role in the squad.

CCV would be a massive loss as having gone through the list he is our only fully trusted centre back. His injuries are a worry but that again shows even if he does remain we probably need a starting left centre back and a good understudy to CCV.

It seems we are making good progress on the forward line in terms of the market, all rumours I know just now and we seem to know what we are looking for in a centre midfielder given the links to similar profiles, hopefully we have our eyes on centre back too.

Celtic remain relaxed and confident of keeping hold of Cameron Carter-Vickers despite mounting speculation the San Francisco 49ers hope to lure him to Leeds United.

Reports from south of the border insist the newly promoted Elland Road outfit - and its Rangers linked owners - are set to battle it out with Sunderland for the 27-year-old USA international.

Both clubs are gearing up for a return to the English top flight and are understood to be in the market for key defensive recruitments with the transfer window reopen for the summer.

Speculation has been swirling that Carter-Vickers has already been identified as a priority target with West Ham also reported to have shown interest in the former Spurs stopper.

But Record Sport understands there has been no contact made with the Parkhead club and that manager Brendan Rodgers is unaware of any moves to deprive him of his star centre half before the start of the coming campaign.

The Celtic board are also believed to be somewhat bemused by reports of an imminent bidding war for Carter-Vickers who has provided a rock like presence at the heart of a championship winning defence since moving north from London four years ago.

Carter-Vickers spent an initial season on loan in Glasgow’s east end before sealing a permanent move the following summer in a deal worth around £6m.

HIs advisers declined to comment when approached by Record Sport but Carter-Vickers is believed to be happy and settled in Scotland and has four more years left to run on his current contract.

    Get *

But, Would be funny if the 49ers ended up investing more money in us than the lion they just bought though.

How can people really think he wouldn’t be too hard to replace?

Look at all the centre backs we’ve signed under Rodger’s and you really think it wouldn’t be that big a loss?

If we lose him this summer it’s a huge loss to the team and I don’t see us replacing him with anyone near his level.
