It was true he signed an extension I the January after breaking into the team but for some unknown reason we didn’t add a. Extra half a year.

Looks good and can see there is more to come from him, good coaching (no laughing at the back) and I reckon Rodgers would excell at bringing the best out of this lad.

To me, looks like a number ten, more like a Rogic replacement than a winger, but one who could go out that way.

For a 4231 formation, would enjoy this signing I reckon.

    At £2m, no brainer.
But we are the experts at letting these deals slide by us thinking we hold the strong hand.
Can see the board "monitoring" this for longer than we need to, in the hope we get to the later part of the window and they get desperate to accept £1.5m and we stupidly lose out on him to someone else.
That or stupidly think we can just sign him for free in January.

Negative I know, but this is how badly we've operated at this sort of deal for so long I have no hope in us being smart here.
Smart thing is to find out the price they want, if it's as little as £2m, heck even £3m, just pay it and get him in the door pronto.

He played the vast majority of his time last season as a winger. Even LW. I'm not sure he's being brought in as a 10..time will tell.

I know what you're saying with the dilly dallying about but if that was the case we probably wouldn't be hearing what we are at the moment with the window not even open. This seems to be quite advanced in terms of having an offer on the table to both player and club.

Celtic could be about to pull off a bargain this summer in the transfer market.

This week, Brendan Rodgers’ side have been heavily linked in the services of FC Nordsjaelland attacker Benjamin Nygren, who is out of contract this winter. Because of this, the Danish Superliga side are keen to sell, as they face losing one of their prized assets for free if a deal does not transpire in this window.

On Thursday, it emerged that Celtic had made an ‘official approach’ to Nordsjaelland, before further reports suggested that Nygren’s club had granted the interested party permission to speak to the player, who is currently on holiday.

While a fee of £2 million was being speculated, Celtic may not even need to pay as much as that, according to Danish media. Indeed, Tipsbladet have reported that a fee of 15 million kroner will be enough to sign the versatile Sweden international this summer, which equates to around £1.7 million.

Reports on Friday suggested that both Anderlecht and Copenhagen are interested in Nygren, as well as a number of MLS clubs, who could compete with Celtic over the player's signature.

Nygren enjoyed a breakout campaign individually for FC Nordsjaelland last season, scoring 16 goals in all competitions for the Danish side. This year, he made his international debut for Sweden and has already scored twice for his country in three appearances so far under Jon Dahl Tomasson.

    Fingers crossed man.

Only saw the original highlight video posted in here, based my thinking of a 10 on that, you reckon he looks comfortable enough out wide?

I see him as a No.10 ideally, but he is so versatile, he can even play striker.

Very confident, intelligent and ambitous player, who will provide that creative spark and inventiveness in midfield, we have been badly missing.

Most hadn't even heard of this boy until a few days ago, the window isn't open yet and we're in talks with him already, but somehow there are people still trying to put a negative spin on it like we're * about here, it's pathetic.

100%, it's the same every single player we're linked with if you check the thread, the same 2 or 3 folk thinking they are being edgy or some pish with the 'monitoring' patter. * schoolyard pish at best and negative hunnery at worst.

Good scoring record for a guy that plays primarily on the wing, but 8 assists from over 100 games is a slight concern from what you'd expect to be a creative position. But I haven't seen him so don't know how he's been utilised and whether that is actually something to worry about or not.

For the price it's definitely worth the punt to find out though.

I would say this boy is probably the most clinical I’ve seen from all of our targets highlights … think someone like him will make a huge difference to us.

Towards the end of last season we definitely had a lot of control and possession in the game but I feel like our options on the wings let us down and made things stale.

Celtic are closing in on Swedish ace Benjamin Nygren – who was once tipped as a hotter prospect than superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Hoops are set for talks with the 23-year-old Nordsjaelland attacker and could seal the deal for just £1.7million with the youngster’s current deal up at the end of the year

Danish big guns Copenhagen are also in the hunt, along with Anderlecht and sides in the MLS.

But boss Brendan Rodgers and Celts have already stolen a march having been granted permission to open discussions.

Nygren has admitted he’s keen for a new challenge this summer after his career sparked back to life in Denmark.

The wide man – who can also play as a no.10 – was a sensation when he broke into the IFK Goteborg side at just 17-year-old with pundits suggesting he was ahead of Swedish legend Zlatan at the same age.

Then Goteborg boss Poya Asbaghi said: “I’ve worked with him for over a year, so now it's no longer surprising. But I haven't worked with anyone like him before, to be honest.

“He is much further along than the guys I have met his age. I have highlighted Nygren as a great talent many times.

“Then I can't highlight him as often as I want because I also know the pressure it brings.

Here we have a player who has extremely high potential. The expectations for Benja are very, very high.

“When he hasn't scored two goals after two training matches, people start to wonder, ‘What’s going on with Benja?’

But he's 17 years old. What did Zlatan do when he was 17? He barely played football then. Nygren does and he plays in the Allsvenskan.

“That alone is big. But the expectations can’t be as high on him as they have been.

“Benjamin if anyone is good at handling pressure – but he also has to have a coach who comes to him and says that the pressure is disproportionate if it is.”

Nygren was snapped up by Belgians Genk for £4.5m after less than 20 top team appearances but the move didn’t go to plan and landed in Denmark following a loan spell in Holland.

He’s roared back to form with Nordsjaelland though and has emerged as one of the top players in Denmark in the last 12 months, landing a pick in the team of the season after notching 16 goals.

Nygren also blasted his way into the Sweden national side and he has hit the net in the last two of his three appearances, with goals against Northern Ireland and Hungary

Celts are hoping to push a deal over the line early

Brendan needs options and he likes to have different dynamics in his team. It will be interesting to see how he fits in and where he plays if he signs, i'm really positive about this deal being highly likely.
Btw he's an FM wonderkid no doubt about it, he falls into the category of plers i've seen on FM and later sign for us, along with Ajer and VVD.
