Called up to the Denmark squad for the first time. Schmeichel, time to bring him home!

Nailed on for him to be extremely impressive hyped up after and leave our price range he’s now hovering at the very cusp of what we’re willing to pay. 3 windows chasing him, argued for £7m rather than the £8m they wanted first sniff we had. Saved a million to watch that price be £13m now and we still want him. We’ll try £12.5m, he’ll score a hatty for Denmark and then we can’t afford him.

To be fair to us, and just for this very specific part of 3 windows chasing, think January we all but had it wrapped up. Marmoush went to City, Frankfurt rumour about wanting him as a replacement, everyone knowing they just got £70m odd and the price went to about £20m. Frankfurt interest turned out to be smoke without the fire. But that was the end of January, after chasing him the two previous windows. If we can’t do this within a month, we need to move on. Regardless of how quality he seems to be

Your posting media reports and rumours as facts, it's all speculation if any of that is true.

£10-11m was always fair, for me. If that's what they were after.

We've scouted the guy for nearly 2 years. Said in January that if there was ever a time to risk it, then it'd be for him.

Its interesting because you had people saying that's way too much but then the initial feeling on the 17 year old Serb at £8m who's played 25 games is rather unanimous in terms of signing him.

    Now we've missed the boat.

Brondby were adamant they didn't want to sell in January tbf.

They were challenging for the title at that point so I don't think they were ever selling then.

The amount of people that said they didn't want him when we first bid back in summer 2023

We DID sell a striker, Kyogo, who hasn’t been replaced yet.

Maeda through the middle is a rich man's Kyogo. The de facto replacement in the starting lineup was Jota. Unfortunately, he faces a long-term injury, so we basically need a replacement for Jota.

Not sure why people still think Maeda is better suited on the wing. He's our best player since we changed his position. My #1 priority would be a LW, not a ST.

And he’s just played a major part in the Danish goal a few minutes after getting on. Please do everything we * can to sign this man.

Gonna be one that gets away you imagine.

We had to get him in January but it seems like no matter what we offered they wouldn't have sold/he wouldn't have moved.

Regardless I didn't really understand people's reluctance to pay £11m. Price was/is more than fair. It'll be a few more million now I'd say.

We bottled it in January despite seemingly scouting him for years. I'll be stunned if he's attainable now. But it's not like we all said it at the time..

He wasn't available in January, Brondby were never selling because they were still fighting for top spot.

Wonder if he'd still actually want to come here. He must know that he'll probably have more offers from bigger leagues now.

That will all depend who is actually in for him. He wants to move on from Brondby and they will have their price.

I would imagine if a West Ham, or Eintracht Frankfurt want him he will end up there but if he is just one of their targets and he ends up still at Brondby you never know.

The problem with this approach is if we are losing our top players can we afford to wait?

If he does have a release clause that kicks in this summer put a bid in on it and it could force the situation.

True mate. He'd have been here now had Brondby not been arseholes over the last few windows.
