Ideally yes, but the reality is, had he quit he would be not simply surrendering 2 years salary but also have to pay Spurs for breach of contract, whereas being dismissed by Spurs means they have to cough up a compensation package, and it will not be peanuts. So there is that to take into account.

Aye,I get that now hadn’t really considered that when I posted.

I’d * off in to the sunset but Ange lives and breathes football no doubt he’ll be at another club soon enough.

Spurs fans presumably relieved to get away from the unpleasant business of winning trophies and back to dreaming of a fourth-place finish.

2 years, qualifying for the CL and a trophy... more than most managers get in the tourist league..

He needs a club like Celtic or as people have said Ajax, Porto etc where his team will dominate possession with better players...

Anyway..interesting to see his next move

Spurs will Spurs. They sacked Jose just before a League Cup final he got them to and he’s a winner.

Ange made sure of a trophy and the only chance of the CL they had. And * everything off except that. By all accounts Levy wanted to sack him in January and the squad revolted. Injuries * the league season, and priorities made it worse Ange focusing on nothing but the Europa. To win silverware, something they desperately need to do, get in that habit and with that CL entry.

What he’s started building, if the reports of January are right, they are back to square one. Romero, Van de Veen, Porro, Maddison all reported amongst a lot more wanted to look elsewhere if Ange leaves. And he’s since delivered European trophy, CL qualification and the celebrations you could see the team adores him. They’ve * it

Inter have a job open, that would be interesting….

And I think more likely than down south, a big club in Europe rather than a Premiership club he’ll walk into.

English media went all out to ridicule him, * like the clown comment. They had the claws out and they’ve made that the narrative around him now.

First half season when he went there, 3 Manager kf the Month awards in a row first time ever, they hyped so much and he tried to keep a lid on it, then they loved to chop him down. And hated him fighting back. And down there the media circus means a * of a lot.

Funny though, now they’ve sacked him, I’ve seen a lot of media backing him and Spurs are clowns now.

As much as I wanted a * use mate and middle finger aftermatch interview, it’s more satisfying that he changed fhe narrative around him, got everyone hyped for what he can do next season. Got them a buzz, a start to a mentality and a team rallied round him. Then they’ve * him off, had to pay him for that, and will have * themselves by doing so.

That dressing room, every interaction celebrating the Europa win, they adored him. There will be a lot looking to go now

They won a trophy, and somehow managed to Spurs it anyway

I just can’t get around the mindset of that dobber Levy.
1st manager to win a trophy in 17yrs with what must be said, a injury ravaged squad and a manager who has been successful at every post he has occupied.
But I suppose down in the EPL their heeds are so far up their own arses that the be all and end all is to make money and compared to the league, winning trophies in Europe is not as financial beneficial to the bottom line than being farther up in the league. The support will not give two * about money as winning silverware is everything, and is more relevant winning in Europe. But sadly you have * like levy who run clubs more like a business and less like a sport.
The EPL has become like a circus. Supporters are paying money to turn up and see their team play with little or no chance of winning anything but they have players that cost 10s of millions and that’s all that matters.

I wouldn't be shocked if the decision to sack him was purely financial.

In so far as to say there share of EPL monies a 17th place finish gets compared to a top 5 finish for instance.

Who cares about trophies and building a legacy. Cash is king, Levy is a Lawwell version on heart stopping levels of steroids.

Edit: seems like finishing in the top 5 in EPL alone is worth nigh on £50mill and finishing 17th barely nets you £12mill

The EPL might be the most pertinent example of that but let's be honest, that's how the majority of top level football is going these days. * even a lot of our fans are obsessed by the financials of CL football and use the transfer fees of Engels and Idah as a stick to beat them with. We all realise that we've more chance winning the Europa or Conference league but most would be raging if we ended up playing in them as it costs us money.

EPL’s becoming a closed shop practically, promoted teams just can’t bridge the gap between Championship and Premier League.

Ot’d take a surprise season, riding luck and punching up for one to stay in now

FFP rules in England they don’t level the ground, it destroys any chance of competition

Chivu is going there seemingly. Italy is a weird league, seems to be a merry go round where managers just dot about from club to club and previous playing history with the club takes precedence over managerial ability. He just about got Parma relegated and is being rewarded with the inter job.

If spurs had done this 6 months ago there probably wouldn’t have been quite so much backlash but this decision off the back of a European trophy when it was abundantly obvious Ange put all his eggs in that basket and * off an already dead league campaign is a wild call and probably Levy’s biggest error of judgement to date. The players clearly love him and the Europa league win got the fans back on side and all going in the same direction. This decision has completely ripped all that up and makes the job almost impossible for whoever comes in next.

Levy seems to think they’re a top 4 club who should be challenging for league titles when in reality they’re miles off it. They’ll get scudded in the champions league, maybe make the conference league/Europa league if they’re lucky but it’ll be a horrible season compared to the one they’ve just had with the trophy win. Such a short sighted, poor decision imo.
