I'd be surprised too, but sometimes it's just confidence. He's not lost pace or anything, if he's confident he can do a job for sure.

Wouldn't be surprised at all, they recognise a good player when they see one - at a bargain price.
Style of play perfect for Kyogo too.
Agree on the confidence, if he gets that back he'll be excellent.

Would fit Brentfords system well, with Mbuemo going they'll probably go for Kyogo & someone a lot younger

Kyogo replacing Mbuemo would be a massive downgrade.

Kyogo was largely great for us, but he’s not as good a player as some people seem to think. Couldn’t get a kick at a pish Rennes team. Struggles to make the Japan squad. And in his last 18 months or so with us he was fairly regularly putting in rotten performances.

Think he’d struggle with the physicality and tempo of the EPL.

Aye that'd be a downgrade for them.

Could see him getting ragdolled about down there. Completely different player to Mbuemo.

According to rumours they're also interested in kuhn. No idea how true that is or not.

    Nicolas Kuhn 'targeted' by Brentford

Brentford are reportedly looking to sign Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn.
The Premier League side are said to be preparing for the departure of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.

https://www.foot-sur7.fr/672666-mercato-stade-rennais-un-indesirable-file-vers-lecosseStade Rennais Transfer Market: An Unwanted Man Heads to Scotland

An offer has been made for Habib Beye's unwanted recruit at Stade Rennais. A winter signing could return to his former club.

Kyogo Furuhashi is no longer in favor at Stade Rennais. Recruited this winter for €12 million from Celtic Glasgow to replace Amine Gouiri's departure to Marseille, the Japanese striker has failed to meet the expectations of the Breton management.

According to Le Parisien , Kyogo Furuhashi will leave Rennes this summer. The Japanese international has been struggling at Stade Rennais since his arrival. Kyogo Furuhashi, who was a serial goalscorer in Scotland, has not had much playing time at SRFC under Habib Beye.

Due to strong competition and less than convincing performances, Kyogo Furuhashi has made only 6 appearances for the Red and Black since his arrival in Brittany. He is being pushed towards the exit this summer in order to relaunch elsewhere and be selected for the 2026 World Cup. According to information from Transferfeed , the Japanese could return to Scotland at Celtic Glasgow. His former club is ready to repatriate him.

Kyogo Furuhashi is also keen to return to his former club. Nothing is official yet. If a satisfactory offer is received, Stade Rennais will sell their winter signing. And they're not the only contender. A Premier League club is also positioning itself to secure the services of the Japanese international. Bournemouth is reportedly keen on Furuhashi.

The English club has reportedly already inquired about his situation and could make a concrete offer in the coming weeks. Kyogo Furuhashi, who is under contract until 2027, has an estimated market value of €12 million

They will be lucky to get a good fee for him, they’ve made it clear he’s not wanted and not even slightly part of their plans.

I’d take him back here, he’s better than Idah for me.

Think we should pass on this. Wee man was brilliant for us, but was evident he was on the downward trajectory before he left.

We should be looking to the future.

He’s only 30, he’d be more than capable of being our main striker for the next 3/4 years

Got to disagree mate. He visibly regressed over the last year or two. Players peak at different times and I think we are lucky we got him just before he started peaking. We also seen his downturn. If we get him now I gear he wouldn't even be the same kyogo that left us in Jan.

Great player for us at the right time. Thanks kyogo but think that chapter is done

I don’t know if he visibly regressed or was not happy and looking to leave. I don’t think regressions happens that quickly, he’s still rapid, got a great engine and can finish.

The performances did get worse, we can’t deny that but you could still see he was capable which is why I think it is more his happiness over regression.

I reckon he’s been away and realised it’s much better here and would work his arsenal off if he came back. Maybe you’re right and he’s regressed but I’d say for the right price he’s more than worth it.

He’s only been pro for ~8 years? Japanese players tend to look after themselves better and are more able to prolong their career, which is the other reason I’d be surprised if he’s regressed.

This season him happy and taking chances he would have got 25 plus by January.

I lean towards leave him in the past and remember him at his best, another year of his form he had under Rodgers we’d not remember him anywhere near as fondly.

But after a horrendous spell leaving us, and if he jumps at the chance to return, and he’s happy and it lights a fire under him. His quality, at the price Rennes apparently want, that’s a steal that.

But I think, he’s left, leave the memories he gave us. Look for a different option. I loved him at his best here but I always thought as well he was an issue for us at times, he was too quality to leave out at times in CL games etc. but we could only use his quality by working the ball up, controlling the midfield and using his movement.

He’s never been a focal point. And we need that. He had quality we couldn’t leave out by not playing him, but we also needed what he can’t do.

Also given that he was reported as being unhappy at Celtic why the * would be happy here 6 months later?

Everyone makes mistakes. Like that time you've got a stunning we bird as a teen but dirty we jackie wants a shot. She seduces you wi her big knockers, has her way with you and you regret it. Would never want away again but sometimes it's to late. Get that second chance he may just be brilliant again.

Pass for me. Think we have seen the best out of him. I wouldn’t be throwing toys out the pram if he did sign but I would prefer if we identified fresh targets.

Send him back to Glasgow ASAP. The most sensible solution to the striker question. You know the Huns will be * themselves if he comes back.

Normally I'd say we need to be looking forwards and ideally get someone that will be hard to push out of the starting 11 but if he wants to come back for genuine reasons, can pick up his conversion rate again and we can snag him on a knockdown price then I'd take him back. He'd still be a useful player to have around.

If he just wants to come back because he flopped in France and isn't as confident as being a success elsewhere then I'd pass.
