Daizen Maeda

The money's one thing for sure, but there are so many other reasons why it's the right time (for him not us) to leave.

He now has 4 league titles, 2 Scottish Cups and 2 League Cups. He's played in 3 CL campaigns and 1 EL campaign. He was one of our best players in these campaigns and has scored goals at that level. This year, he's won every individual award he's ever likely to get. He's also of an age where it's now or never if he wants to experience a better league.

For his own development, it's the right time.

 

More that he wants to consider his options, rather than he definitively wants to move on. He knows what we’re offering in terms of a new deal and also knows there’s potentially other interest in him this summer.

He’s earned that right to be honest.

 

Celtic want to keep their best players but Maeda has admitted he isn't keen to sign a new deal anytime soon. When asked about his Celtic future at the awards he said "This is a world where you never know what's going to happen next. This is a good team but I have to think about what comes next for my family and everything ".

If you can read that- (and there's a fair few similar responses from him in the last few months )added to the fact he hasn't wanted to sit down and discuss a deal , and tell me there's "nothing to suggest" he's going to leave then fair play to you.
