Villareal, Valencia, Sevilla etc. one of those teams who have failed in recent years but used to be successful would be good for him. Rebuild and start again.

I think he’ll be genuinely gutted not to continue on the project with Bergvall, gray, van de ven, Johnson, vuskocic etc. and the other youngsters he’s got coming in. In 5 years Bergvall specifically will be at the very top

I love Ange, but he finished 1 spot above relegation, and he won a cup where Rangers have been in the Final, and quarterfinal in the last 5 years. I am actually confident that we would have won the EL if we played in it this year

I've long said that we can win the EL; but I think your confidence that we would have is a bit too far, mate.

What we can say is that, unlike in the CL, there were no teams in the EL that we would have had no chance against; but there were plently of teams in it who are better than us and who would beat us over 2 legs maybe 7 times out of 10. Spurs themselves, Lazio, Bodo Glimt, Athletic Bilbao, Eintracht Frankfurt, Manchester United, Lyon, Roma.

We are not talking about the likes of PSG, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, etc. We are definitely capable of beating any of these Europa League teams on our day; but we wouldn't be favourites against any of them either. Just look at our record in the knockout stages.

Could we have won it? Absolutely. Would we have won it? Probably not.

I agree mate but what i mean is that even though i am absolutely delighted for him to win the EL, it is still a competition that many teams dont take seriously and play fringe players etc. It would almost be a disaster for a team with a budget of tottenham and Man utd Not to win it. It is fully expected imo.

There's some truth to that; but I think that when you get to the QF onwards, teams start to take it seriously, because there is an automatic CL spot to be won. Spurs beat some very decent teams in those 3 games.

Obviously finishing 17th isn’t good enough, although there were mitigating factors with crazy injuries and the like. At any rate, I don’t think winning a European trophy at that club should be sniffed at.

Many have failed before Ange. And say what you want about the competition, but winning away in Europe is rarely easy. I remember Mourinho’s Spurs getting dumped out of that competition after losing 3-0 away to Zagreb (and he had Kane, Son in his prime and just generally a better squad).

I’m not shocked he’s leaving because like somebody said it kind of suits all parties, but I suspect what their supporters will realise is that Spurs don’t win trophies, Postecoglou wins trophies.

*edit* Not much on Celtic actually, just mentions that Ange still follows the team and often has the matches on in the coaches office.

We haven’t won a knockout round in 21 years. Some against some very average opposition.

I don’t understand the arrogance around the lower tier UEFA competitions every year.

Fabrizio Romano tweeting they’ve decided to sack him as well.

Really doesn’t make sense, I know the league position was disastrous, but they’re a team with a loser mentality and he could have began changing that.

Hope they get relegated next season. If they do appoint Thomas Frank, Ange could be a great appointment for Brentford!

Wins their first trophy in 17 years and then sack him. Basket case club. Hope they are relegated next year.

Spurs problems run deeper than any manager or head coach.

Thing is, that problem does hiring and firing amd the people that turn up to support them are * delusional.

All the best Ange. Always a winner.

Like to see how any manager does any better under same conditions with practically only being able to play arguably their strongest 11 for what must be around 15 games out of 50+ games played.

He'll not struggle for a new job and could see him tearing it up in Germany

Is it?, if we won a cup double and lost the league, would Rogers survive? They finished 17th and lost 22 times. They were absolutely awful this season and scraped a uefa cup win.
