Harley Mills

CELTIC have targeted Peterborough full-back Harley Mills as back-up for Kieran Tierney next season.

Posh were mulling over a £1million approach from Fulham for the ex- Aston Villa trainee.


But now the Hoops have entered the race for the left-back.

Scotland star Tierney is returning from Arsenalthis summer - as first revealed by SunSport - but boss Brendan Rodgers needs competitionin defence.

Greg Taylor is out of contract, and loanee Jeffrey Schlupp has gone back to Crystal Palace.

Mills was playing at non-league Enfield at the start of last season.


He cemented a spot in boss Darren Ferguson’s side, and his fine performances had scouts flocking to watch him.

Rodgers knows that Taylor is all but certain to have played his last game for Celtic.

The Scotland international has attracted interest from Dinamo Zagreb, the MLS and most recently PAOK of Greece.

And Mills is one of the potential names on the replacement list.

 

It would be a big risk to have him as back up to KT. Had he played a full season I might be understanding but we know KT won't be playing 3 games a week every week so we need someone to come in pretty instantly.

 

I wonder if Peterborough still have the same chairman as when we tried to sign Toney from them.

 

It’s Barry Fry not sure if he’s chairmen or a Director of some sorts but he is still there.

 

We had Toney at the trainning ground but played the safe bet with Ajeti instead

 

That isn't what happened, Toney has said himself that he wasn't guaranteed being the number 1 striker so rejected the move to us

Ah ok, I've never heard anything Fry's said on the matter.

Have heard yer man Anthony on Talksport a few times bleating on about it, and about Lee Tomlin previously also.

 

Flashscores has his contract down as ending this summer so could be a risk free signing at least. Are Frame or Anderson not up to the back up job?

Seems highly rated and clearly has a good left foot..

This is the kinda backup options with a lot of potential we should be after. Within reason obviously as Peterborough command big fee's for players..

 

I think one of them should be 3rd choice. I think we need 3 this season.

 

The one thing that might change that is I think they have started to be burned with a few letting the contract run down. They sold Ronnie Edwards and Harrison Burrows who were highly rated for just under £3m each.

If we think Mills is who we want we should be able to get him for a similar price tops, which is nothing for a promising talent.

 

I really wanted Burrows when we were linked. Wand of a left leg, think he would've been brilliant for us with his attacking output particularly..

No sure how he's done at Ipswich mind..

Peterborough usually scout very well..

 

It’s Sheffield Utd he is at and he had a good season in the Championship. I think he would cost a team 3 or 4 times what they paid for him now.

 

Ah that's right. Sure we were after the Ipswich left back as well who looked perfect for us also..

People eager to see Taylor gone might wanna start reconsidering.

 

I know a few Peterborough fans and they loved Burrows.

Scouting is usually on point there although I know they don't really have anyone to rave about this season. Think they've had a bit of an underwhelming one. Just seen they finished 18th. Ooft.

I'll ask a few people I know about Mills but I don't remember his name ever popping up in conversation before.
