Few rumours of asking about Kyogo apparently

Could be nonsense but that’s what I’ve seen mentioned

Kyogo back is a no brainer. Top tier on his day and with a new lease of life knowing he's here and the grass isn't greener we could get him focused and firing.

Don’t think there’s any chance Kyogo comes back.

Effort and work ethic are standard package in Japanese footballers. So, whichever Kyogo it is, he'll work hard. I do think he knows he * up the move. Probably thought Rennes was Reims (they have 2 Japanese footballers), and then realized where he came.:56:

    Donr want him back.

Think we need a freshness up top. Unless he'd be coming for like £2m. His shoulder seems to have been playing up.

Maeda and Hatate only being linked with Fenerbache and Udinese so far. If that doesn't change I doubt they leave.

He never stopped putting in the effort when he wanted away to be fair, he was just missing chances all over the shop, lots of folk making excuses for him and blaming Rodgers tactics, was still getting plenty of opporunities but not putting them away over his last year. If we were actually linked with him again I'd be more concerned he's just peaked, not worry about him putting in the graft.

I don’t think he’s done anything recently to suggest that he’s consistent enough to join us. He’s been plagued with injuries and is probably a bit overhyped. We need someone with more experience who’s going to get 25-30 goals a year.

They bought him for about £10m. They’d expect something close to it. Age he is, we would never do that, have no idea how we managed to sign him for £2.5m first time after he was top scorer in the league for the poorest team. We won’t manage that luck twice. He’s gone and his interview or not, as much as I’d love it, that won’t happen.

People mentioning Kyogo, I feel I might be in the minority thinking that he left at the right time for him and how the support will remember him. Another year here, then we’d have turned on him a bit. He was unreal under Ange, BR’s first season he was shockingly utilised tactically but the half season before he left? He had 13 goals, he had enough service and chances that from what we came to expect from him 20 plus by January should have been what he racked up.

By the time he left, anytime he got through a one on one, I didn’t expect a goal. He could always be a guy to miss chances, but he was also reliable to take chances we needed him to. By January it was just one to miss chances more than anything.

Saying that, if he did come back after a nightmare move, could light a fire under him and see the best of him. And with Jota back, the link up and cohesion just instinctual play between they two is right up there best partnerships and understanding between players I’ve seen. Larsson/Sutton peerless, they two clear 2nd. Stokes/Hooper 3rd probably

BR’s interview when he went was quite revealing and as much * as he can talk, nailed the nagging feeling I had with Kyogo his last 6 months.

He wants to be the guy, celebrated, dance with the fans be the main man. When its shared between 3 up top, when Kuhn is flying and moving into the space he was dragging guys away from but wouldn’t get the pass, Kuhn usually scoring at that point. He wasn’t happy for the team, he was frustrated for himself.

Irony is though, doing the same as he was but taking his chances he would have still had that. His misses this season was down to him not the style. He had plenty on a plate for him.

Last season, absolutely he had a right to be frustrated. Totally misused, would work like * to see a pass between CB’s instead. This season before he left? Nah, he done poorly. Just look at Maeda going into his position taking pretty much any chance we made for him scored 15 in 10.

Kyogo isn't coming back. He needs to move on from Rennes though. Hoped it would go well for him but it's been a disaster of a move in all honesty.

Aside from our incoming business, I really wish this would be the Summer where we massively step up our game in developing our younger guys.

There’s always the question of whether or not some of these guys will ever be good enough to make it here, even as a squad option, but we need to do so much more than just letting them stagnate in the B Team for years on end. The current cycle seems to be: get some pre-season appearances, go back to dossing about in the Lowland League until the next Summer (maybe getting a very rare first-team cameo in the latter part of the season, if they’re lucky), before eventually getting sent out on a pishy loan (or just straight up released) when they start getting too old for that and their development has stagnated.

We’ve had multiple examples of young guys going out and having successful loans, and it benefiting us, but more often than not we seem to treat it as a sort of end of the line/biding time for their contract to run out i.e “You’re in your 20s, you’ve barely played anything resembling a senior game and now don’t know what to do with you, so go for a kick about with some cloggers in the Scottish Championship”.

I’ve not got a problem if we’re doing a favour for a lad who’s blatantly not good enough and is probably going to be kicking about the Scottish lower leagues (if that) for the rest of his career; but for the guys with some signs of potential or ability, there needs to be a plan. We need *meaningful* domestic loans, or the English League 1 or even trying to get something going with a Serie B side considering the success stories there. Even if they ultimately don’t make it here with us, we’ve seen with guys like Lawal that we can still make some alright money moving them on if they have a productive loan (and that’s the benefit of loaning these guys out to leagues where teams actually have some spending power).
