They’ll never get that, but paying let’s say £4m with £1m or so in add-ons and a fairly big sell on would probably be more realistic

    * knows how much we bid. I think €10 million is too much for a guy his age. That kind of money could get us a starting, ready-made LCB.

Videos look decent. More than decent considering his age. Good size to the lad.

If a truly young talent is breaking out, then paying £6-10m is what needs to be done. If we are talking about an EPL team and PSG sniffing, they wouldn't think twice about paying it and likely have him in their squad for the next season.

We, as a club, are terrible at scouting though and often can miss out on these sort of deals. I believe we were sniffing around that Gvardiol back in his Zagreb days, who eventually went to Leipzig and obviously City. These talents are out there and if our scouts have some how stumbled upon one again, then the money men need to be smart here.
Either the scouts are good (so they would tell us) so trust them and back them. Or the scouts are *, so replace them.

Not saying this lad is gonna be the next VVD or anything, but if the fee being asked is fair for the player he is likely to become, then we need to stop pinching the pennies and make the deals happen before we are priced completely out.
£6-8m today, for 2 years service and sell him to the EPL for £30m is a no brainer if we believe he is gonna be the star he is meant to be.

    Big, ugly and Eastern European.

Exactly what you want in a CB.

    Do it.

    This.

Its a massive risk yes, but the pay off is equally massive, either in future performances or a fee... Or both.

I just don't want it to be another Strahija Pavlovic scenario...we were reluctant to pay the 7 mill for a boy with only 2 seasons at Partizan as a CB a few seasons ago...bought by Monaco that same season and he's now at AC Milan. If we get rid of some of the deadwood I think we should take the gamble

To be fair, Pavlovic played double the amount of games this boy played, and even then it didn't work out for him at Monaco, he left for Salzburg where it did work. Still, I would have been fine paying £7 million for him at the time.

I understand where people are coming from, but we spent £11 million on Engels, who played in a much better league and is still settling for us but hasn't outright improved us yet. If we are paying a large fee for a player, I'd rather it be for a more experienced player, one who can come in and improve us straight away.

Not saying I'd be against this boy signing, would be all for it, but if they are holding out for 10 million Euros, I'd rather we spent that elsewhere, on a more experienced player.

We can but dream but hes a BR fave. I've said before I'd rather keep Trusty

Anyway a large sell on fee is what I suspect we would go for in this instance

Celtic are interested in signing Red Star Belgrade’s teenage central defender Veljko Milosavljevic.

The sought after 17-year-old is attracting interest from PSG, Liverpool and Everton.

Reports in Serbia claim Celtic have had an opening offer rejected. While that’s premature, the Scottish champions have run scouting checks on the coveted teenager.

Red Star believe they can command a fee in the region of £9million for a player yet to make his first senior appearance for the national team.

Celtic won’t go that high, but hope that a higher prospect of first team football in the SPFL might persuade the young defender to use Glasgow as an intermediary stepping stone.

Can't see us spending that sort of money on him or him coming here if those other clubs are genuinely interested in him.

If we want to get to the next level or try to compete in Europe more it's the market we need to look at more. Very highly rated youngsters that carry a decent fee. We can offer what the other bug clubs can't first team football and a chance to hit the ground running and play in Europe.

No chance we spend £9m on a 17 year old.

Same as we wouldn't pay that for Miller and he's proven here.

I think that money is a bit steep for us just now but I think this is what we need to be doing in order to get the top level players before they go to Benfica, Ajax etc need to get these top prospects in as early as possible, I do think the quoted 9m is a bit too much for us

They probably will get it let’s be honest he’s one of the best young centre half’s about so a big club will have no issues spending that sort of money on him.

Liverpool are also interested in him as well. Loads of big European sides are.

if we are spending that sort of money on him, he needs to be starting to develop him further. No point in spending that sort of money and then him playing in the lowland league.

If he's good enough he's old enough.
This is the model we should be going for if it's clear he's that good.

Much more preferable to another 3 3m punts.
