    I'd say no to Scales.
He had that good season in Ange second year.
Think Scales has maintained that level since.

Got his team wrong. Kuhn and Bernardo should have been dropped. Aberdeen nullifying us out wide due to setting up differently forced us to play through the middle, and we had nobody capable of doing that. Which is why I think McCowan should have been in for Bernardo.

Maeda, Johnston, O'Riley, Scales, I'd argue Hatate too is lasting 90 mins longer and has had one of his best season returns wise.

Will be interesting to see if there's any announcement regarding a contract extension ahead of the new season.

I hate his stubborn approach to tactics. Only has 1 way of playing and it's really not that good to watch. Yesterday we were so content to have the ball and do nothing with it. Players were scared to go forward and try things. I miss the good old days when teams went out and tried to score goals and entertain

We were plenty entertaining enough to watch in the first half of the season, didn’t hear anybody complaining about his tactics then.
More often than not it’s down to the players.

Well to be fair he should definitely get one.
Plus he's entitled to one and has earned it

Clement de la sevco...he got one....for doing nothing and winning zero.....Big Permatan Brendan is definitely due wan

Obviously there’s been a marked drop in form mate. People don’t typically complain when we are playing well.
The build up play is clearly too tepid and slow and it has been for a while now. You can blame a player for the odd bad performance but when the whole team is under par you have to look at the bigger picture.
its akin to the performances you seen in winter last season.

He was on loan to Aberdeen in Ange 2nd season. Didn't break in to our team until Rodgers came. I think he's improved since

Really? I could have sworn this was his third season playing at this sort of "good worker, not great level" sort?

Seems ages ago since that season he surprised us all with how reliable he was.

edit: had to go search the season stats for that, absolutely spot on Zander lad.
Scales gets added back to the list for sure. Guy was half way up the A9 before Rodgers then utilised him. Defo has brought the best out of him, albeit we need better and he arguably is another favourite getting time above Nawrocki who I think deserves more game time above Scales and Trusty.

Will never forget, think it was Alex Ferguson or one of his players at Man Utd, that said something along the lines of "It was a boring 1-0 win but I would take boring 1-0 wins all season".

Always * hated that line and think it applies to Rodgers too. I genuinely think if we're 1 or 2-0 up and just casually strolling through the game, he'll see it as acceptable. Yes, winning is the main priority, but let's not forget what football is. It's about entertainment, and that's one of the principles we hold close at Celtic. Playing in an entertaining fashion.

Too often this season we haven't done that. We've won the league, yes. We should do that - we aren't over-achieving by doing so. But Rodgers will be the first to acknowledge that putting an entertaining team on the pitch is a really, really high priority at Celtic.

Pretty much since January, he hasn't managed to do that. Football has been boring to watch and seems to only have one way of playing. Sticking by players like Scales and Taylor really hasn't helped either - he's just limiting the potential of the team.

For me the system is a bigger issue than the personnel.

I think we need to move one or two on but we should lose sight of the fact that we have a far superior team than anyone in the SPL and at times we have made really hard work of games.

We have Idah, Maeda and Kuhn who together have the best part of 70+ goal involvements. No other team can match that.

We have also brought in £25-£30m worth of players, none of who have played to the max of their ability yet.

There’s no real guarantee at the moment that if we do spend, that we will spend well.

In different games this season, we have seen this type of performance and we say “we missed McGregor” “we missed jota” “we missed Reo” insert the next player.
We missed intensity and purpose far more in these games than we missed any one player.

Brendan needs to be doing a lot to do on the training ground instead of of buying our way out.

Good post this, we've got a squad capable of hitting massive heights (see Leipzig) we just need to re-set in the summer, get on the training pitch and come up with some new ideas. Obviously some new additions required but nowhere near the 'rebuild' some are calling for.

I watched it 4 times before I uploaded. There's a wisdom there that just draws you in. Such a class act. A great speaker. Great manager. The greatest.

Or... Opposition managers have correctly assumed his tactics and inflexibility, nullified them, and Rodgers hasnt adapted.

Rewatching that game, cashed out the rewatch 90 minutes in couldn’t do extra time, Aberdeen nullified * all.

I was slaughtering BR yesterday comparing it to the Hun games. It wasn’t comparable to them, at all. We were passing it around them at will, with ease. Getting up the pitch and look up for the final pass and the space that was being made, players weren’t making the moves they should be to go in for the kill, to break the lines and exploit the gaps that we made plenty of but never once decided to use.

And then we’d reset. And do it again. He set it up right, the framework was there. They weren’t stopping us from doing * all. We were stopping us, we were casual, assuming that we were doing it that much that it’ll happen. When we went 1 up we took it as we will just continue passing it about make them run and we’ll maybe do something if we can be arsed to. They didn’t threaten at all. They couldn’t lay a glove, and the players didn’t have the drive or will to win, to be ruthless, to go for the kill. The amount of times we got AJ on the overlap or worked the ball into good positions for the final pass and looked up, with static guys in the box is * chronic.

Your statement is 100% correct for the Hun games but not that yesterday. I was going off my nut at Rodgers but rewatching it a day later, knowing the result looking out for what I thought was happening I’m wrong with jumping the gun there. That relentless absolute will to win we usually show wasn’t there at all.

Watched it and for the first time this season, I really, really missed O’Riley

Over the entire season we took over 2.4points on average from every game... Pretty sure it's safe to say that some managers/teams got results against us,but noone can say that they "worked us out"...

I know where folk are coming from on this, but I genuinely believe our drop in form is because we'd turned everyone over so early/easily that the lads just phoned it in for the final third...

So yesterday aside previous 7 games we scored 25 goals. Bout 3.5 a game. We had a slight slump after Bayern and had reset going into the final games and destroying teams.

Presenting that with no real point but important to show that the narrative that’s going on isn’t quite the full story
