It * sickens me. We need people with dig in there to make up for it. Hopefully with Tierney coming back that side will be sorted.

That was excellent that day, * loved Broony. Mines was probably the Scottish cup final for the invincible treble, growling at McInnes. Was at the Riverside festival that day and watched the game on ma fone absolutely out my *

They've had worse i think, but aye it's standard from they cringey *.

When you're top dogs, winning everything in sight for so long it becomes the norm, you become a target, simple as that. Obviously the hunnery just under the surface contributes to it as well.

    * them. Cal will be back next year making them all cry AGAIN.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has reminded Callum McGregor of his contributions to the club after the midfielder missed a penalty in Saturday's Scottish Cup final defeat to Aberdeen.

With the scoreline deadlocked at 1-1 after extra time at Hampden, the Bhoys faced off against the Dons in a shootout, with McGregor and Alistair Johnston missing their spot kicks to lose 4-2.

McGregor was visibly upset on the pitch after Aberdeen's first Scottish Cup victory in 35 years was confirmed, consoled by teammates and his manager

In his press conference at Hampden, Rodgers was asked what he said to his long-serving midfielder.

The Celtic boss responded, "He's such a conscientious guy who gives so much to this club. As the skipper, he's obviously so disappointed he hasn't scored.

"I was just reminding him what an incredible leader he is for this club. He's given so much to this season and to all the seasons that I've ever known him. He is such an amazing guy.

"It's unfortunate the keeper makes the saves. But no, he'll come back in the summer stronger, fitter and ready to go again."

In the future, when I think back on McGregor’s career here, today won’t even register.

Poor performance, poor penalty, but chin up and we go again.

    Standard for them.

After our heroic performance in Munich, their first reaction was to tweet a massive image of our crest or something with the word "OUT" below it.

    It was something like that.

I used to think McGregors ‘let’s go again’ speeches to the media when talking about the next season literally minutes after winning a SPL Title was a bit OTT and slightly false however after seeing his reaction today he really is laser focused on winning trophy after trophy and it means the world to him which is very impressive and exactly what you would want from a Celtic Captain. Today didn’t work out for him and Celtic but you really can’t win all the time, in the grand scheme of things he has been a hugely successful Celtic Captain and surely there are more trophies to come with CalMac in the team. Has not gone down in my estimation in anyway today, if anything after seeing his reaction he has gone up.

I think it says a lot about him that despite winning so much, him costing Celtic in a cup final hurts him so much.

If there’s one player in our squad that doesn’t need to feel guilty about anything, it’s him. If there’s one player that continuously bails us out and drives us on both on and off the pitch, it’s Callum. He’s won a shitload of titles and cups here. Yet he didnt win this one and it hurts him badly.

Learned a lot about both his deep love for Celtic and how much all of this means to him today.

Captain * fantastic. We go again next season

It surprised me to see how emotional he was, then it registered he's never lost a final..

Not mad at him today tbh. Thought he was half decent, all things considered. Not going to slate the guy for missing a penalty.

He was struggling with trying to cover for the lack of energy in our midfield. He needed some help.

Want to see him give a few a real kick up the * when it’s not going well.
I know he isn’t the type but we need someone who will let players know it isn’t good enough. We need a tougher mentality.

I agree but he's not the man to instil it. Whatever his qualities as captain during training or off the pitch, you almost never see him cracking heads together out there. You're more likely to see Taylor do it than him and he's been out the door for months.

I agree. I’m sure Tierney will help on that front but we still need to add characters to the squad as I think we still have a few who crumble when the going starts getting tough.

    Agree with the points above

However, how is a player as technically good and mentally robust as him so bad at penalties? I have never felt comfortable when he steps up

    He will go again.

The fact that's the first he's lost and he reacts like that should be a reminder to the support as to how lucky we have been this past 15 years or so.

He needs help though. Tierney is a big start. He would have been huge yesterday.

That reaction spoke a thousand words. The guy must have a room dedicated to all his awards yet still takes it that hard when he loses.

He is going to be so * motivated next season to make things right.

First time he's lost at Hampden I'm sure from youth football to now. Incredible.
