The first XI could look very different next season

I'm 50/50 with Schmeichel.

 

Engels can stay. Idah too, but not as first choice.

The rest I'm happy to let go.. Kuhn been horrible since the Bayern games, we'd be silly not to cash in.

 

Next season, we need almost half a new team. Tierney coming in gives us one already. Sinisalo should be given the starting spot as well.

I'd quite happily see an entire new midfield. But that won't happen. Maeda, presuming he doesn't leave, should be back on the left with a proper striker brought in. Kuhn can leave so he'll be needing replaced.

This has to be the summer we actually bring in some power into midfield, along with a player with some flair and creativity. And we have a few centre backs but only one of them is good enough.

 

The only one I'd agree with is Kühn. Idah and Engels are young enough to deserve more time, Yang and Scales are good squad players IMO (although they shouldn't be first choice). Schmeichel is deteriorating in real time and should only stay if he's willing to be backup to Sinisalo.

 

CCV isn’t leaving and Kuhn has played himself out of a move. Engels won’t be either because teams won’t pay what we want. It’ll be Hatate and Taylor. Rodgers already said he doesn’t see that many coming in this summer, which suggests not many will be leaving.

With a lot of these contracts, we hold all the leverage.

 

Yang,Bernardo,Idah and Scales should all be sold this summer, total let downs every one of them.

 

Bit of test on Rodgers tenure here. We know the board are conservative in their transfer dealings. So do they back manager in the final 12months of his deal with nothing to suggest he'll be around after that, whilst in the unseeded pot for CL qualifiers.

As it stands, I would not be confident of qualifying with the current squad. Club needs to be proactive this window and get theor finger out and sign these pacey and powerful players Rodgers wants us to play at.

 

We will find out later today if that’s the case.

 

Idah is 24 so it's highly unlikely he'll improve much. Kuhn is 25 so they're basically in the same bracket of needing to step up and be consistent now or likely spend their careers floating from club to club.

 

What are you basing that on? There’s a lot of talk about him leaving.

 

There isn’t. No more than the usual bottom of the barrel rumours that come out every Summer.

There’s nothing of any substance. Even if you search, a Sports Illustrated article comes up and their source is themselves from March, who’s source then was Football Insider.

It’s pish.

Things move fast and something could materialise, but there’s nothing to worry about right now.

 

Well I hope you turn out to be right as I’d love him to stay. I’ve heard plenty of rumours that he’s very likely to leave, but the credibility of those are just that they are rumours.

 

Whatever business we do it needs to be 80% done for players back in 4 weeks time.

 

Actually think we’ve had more solid rumours in the past and nothing has happened. I just don’t see it, I’ve got no worries at all but I could be wrong.

I’ve heard rumours about several of our key players leaving, CCV and Kühn being the two most common. But I know nothing of substance so it is just speculation. I don’t think we’ll lose more than two or three at most because that would be daft. If we were better at recruitment I’d be a lot less concerned.
