They've played enough games and played OK enough too this season for us to get decent money. I reckon you could punt scales to a Blackburn or Sheffield Wed for £3m-4m and Yang for a couple mill.

Put that into a new signing.

Have to agree. I think in fairness this is actually an area where we have still a lot of room to improve on where we are at. For the left both Trusty and Scales are decent but clearly not at a level that CCV is at when fully fit. I don't see us selling both though. Facts are we play 60 odd games a season so we need 4 center backs. CCV is number one on the right but we need a solid option to back him up. On the left Scales and Trusty for me are both good back up options but we need to go and buy a really powerful dominant left sided center back. If we can sell Lagerbielke, Nawrocki and then maybe we could at least recoup the money we spent on Trusty that would give us plenty of money to sign a quality left center back and a back up for CCV on the right. We paid about 7m euro for Trusty so I am guessing his wages are probably higher then Scales so moving him on if we can get at least 7m euro for him which I would think is possible would make the most financial sense if a buyer can be found.

Listening to some of the podcast reactions to the Hun game. Baffled that he seems to be getting hammered for Raskins offside goal, which was great defending as a team, they had 3 offside if he dropped back covering then be breaks the line and play them onside. * everyone. That was our only good defensive play for set pieces that full game.

He’s not been mentioned for their actual goal, which I don’t fully blame him for but expect him to do better and would deserve some criticism for that, we’ve seen him be far more capable in those situations before. It’s not really been mentioned in 3 different podcasts but they’ve all mentioned the offside goal and labelled him poor.

    * weird

I just often find Trust to make everything look more difficult. If we are playing someone at home and it gets battered 60 yards to a striker and Cal Mac is 10 yards away, Scales wins it and heads it to Cal Mac and Trusty just heads it away

Trusty has been at fault to a larger degree than Scales was against Dessers, and Scales was poor for that no argument for that, but Trusty has done worse for a lot more goals we’ve lost.

Him being dropped was overdue. Trusty has it in him I think, so up to him to prove his reliability. CCV is out for a bit to get him ready for the final, so it’s both Trusty and Scales now. I want a reaction from Trusty, he’ll be RCB so I’ll forgive a lot that comes along with him not being on the left where he’s more natural but I want to see strength, passion, concentration and decisiveness from him.

He has all the attributes, up to him to show it. I keep seeing the Atalanta game being pointed at for proof of his ability. A game that Scales was better in, got MotM and deserved it. Trusty being £6.5m signing got him his place longer than it would otherwise. But I’ve seen enough to think he can be much better, it’s mental strength now. He needs to show steel.

I’m by no means a Scales hater but I think he’s been * since returning from injury.

Thought he was decent for the most part. He can sometimes be a bit cumbersome but dealt with most things well and always good at starting us off.

Was mostly decent, but just avoided a second yellow.

Just shows you stats can lie.

Or even don't give you the full picture.

Can see how he has good stats in the League though, he's our best defender in the air and from a set peice, he is also our best at progressing the ball/passing.

So out him and our other centre-backs he'd always come out on top via stats and our defenders stats will always be good since we win all the time and don't concede a lot of goals.

Stats wise even though they only played a couple of games Welsh and Nawrocki also ranked high, out the top 11 players in the League actually Nawrocki, Welsh, Scales, CCV and Trusty were all in it lol

He's had a good season, a couple of shockers aside. Doesn't get the credit he deserves mostly and overall he's a solid centre half as well as handy cover for left back.

Hope he sticks around and continues improving.

Was it no the start of last season, Welsh and Lagerbeilke went on a strong run of games together?
I'd imagine the stats from those games would look favourable to both.

But as said, stats don't tell the whole story all the time.

Happy for him to stay as a squad member but if he's still starting next season then we will have stagnated.

Rodgers also praised 26-year-old centre-back Scales for regaining his place in the starting team.

"Liam’s a player that I trust. He'd obviously come out of the team earlier on in the season, but I put him back into the games that were really important for us, and he’s shown up so well. I'm delighted with how consistent his form is

    Evidently going nowhere.

Nawrocki has been consistent when given a chance yet always dropped back out.

Nawrocki has been excellent when he’s came in end of the season this year and fair play. Think he’s unfortunate that rcb he is by far at his best and that’s CCV’s position.

But since Rodgers came in? Aye, Scales consistency and availability has been a lot more than Nawrocki. CCV was out most of last season, it wasn’t Scales he was competing with it was numerous options next to Scales. Lagerbielke, Philips, Rocki, Welsh, CCV, * Iwata at one point. Rocki I like when he first came here next to CCV and CCV made Kobayashi look assured but if that partnership could have continued he’d have been ok.

But injuries kept him out as well, a lot. And when he came in he didn’t impress. He had a game against Aberdeen he had an all time stinker. Down to 10 against the Huns he halfed down two obvious fouls Tavernier territory the 2nd which went in. That game he impressed me though, he wasn’t fit, match fit anyway. He absolutely was a warrior. Last season after his original injury any small glimpses of him he was just being a warrior desperately trying to impress, his game against Aberdeen a write off. When we’ve seen a small glimpse this year he looks assured.

But ahead of Scales? Nah, not a chance for me. Last year he held the defence together. He’s dropped his form when he was being dropped for Trusty any slight thing, and Trusty was playing poor it’s effected him IMO.

Rocki’s impressed though. So weird to me that even at Villa, Murray was ahead of him, he played the Hun game cos Murray got i njured. He was better than CCV. Best player for us overall infact, kept that up, then dropped. It’s a weird situation to me. For him if I was his agent I’f say go get a move get game time. For us I like him fighting for 3rd/4th choice. Honestly I rate him above Trusty

No saying he needs to stay ahead of him permanently. Well certainly for the moment.

My point is more that Rodgers evidently has a bit of favouritism towards Scales. As he's speaking there about consistency yet when nawrocki gets a couple good games you just know he won't be rewarded with a consistent run the same way Scales would be.

I'd have given Nawrocki every game after the league was done at the least. Even to bump up value if we intend to sell him.

Astonished his thread hasn't been bumped.

His use of the ball is absolutely awful. And he's a constant target for opposition teams.

That point in the first half where he just stopped and let the ball run past him. Mental. Broken record but I'd he's the height of our ambitions at CB we'd be as well giving up.

I fear Rodgers has found a new pet.

I will for the life of me never understand why we persist with him being the ball playing CB it's evident it's his weakness yet the manager acts like he's Franz Beckenbauer
