I think he is similar to many of our prospects both past and present, he needed an experienced solid pro next to him, to learn from and improve.

Better than Odea maybe, better than Loovens I sure hope not.

As for Caldwell I think 70% of his passes miss the target but yes he is better with the ball at his feet over Mick. However first and foremost a defender must defend he just cant IMHO. I honestly think you would see better performances from Mick if he had a consistent and reliable CB next to him, this has been the case in the past.<o></o>

In all honsesty CE I think Mick had the potential to become a quality CB, I think time has past him by at 24-25, he needed a Mjalby type figure next to him to learn from. IMO Caldwell is and never will be a consistant/solid defender.

However they are both decent enough at SPL level it´s the step up in class were they get found out. I hope Loovens prooves to be the glue that helps mould a solid unit, however if that was to be the case then surely he would be playing.

Hard to see McManus dropped. Its rare for a manager to drop their captain unless they are in their mid 30's then its fitness related.
