Still waiting on the review from the Covid * up season. Unlikely we're gonna hear anything regarding our set up.

Mental how we leave it to one man, the manager essentially to oversee things. We have a mute CEO and our pathways manager has just left.

Whilst we're run well as a business, as a club we lag behind. A proper revised modern set up would see us bridge the gap in Europe, help us produce better youngsters and still implementing our strategy regarding transfers to degree. Plus ease any transition from head coach to coach over time.

We need this now, as Lawell and DD aren't gonna live forever. Rodgers will be gone in a few years most certainly. Then what? The parochial view has to change. The powers that be will insist their way works due to the success on and off the field. There is a point there but we should never stop looking to progress and modernise.

The problem is the money men at the club, I.e senior accountants who were CFOs then became CEO ala Lawwell and Nicholson have wielded too much power when it comes to footballing operations.

They should be setting a budget every season for a head of football operations to work under in conjunction with the manager. How that budget is spent on players is then up to the head of football operations and manager. The decisions should be separate otherwise you end up with conflicting aims and objectives.

I very much doubt that those in power at the moment want to relinquish the control that they do have. Us implementing a more modern DOF approach with extensive scouting network behind that and a philosophy of playing coming from the DOF rather than the manager (DOF then picks managers based on continuing that style) then removes that element of control the current setup provides those in power.

It’s what we should be moving towards but those in power are too entrenched in their ways for it to change anytime soon while we are still successful.

Tisdale touched on this in an interview from just before we appointed him full time, not sure of an exact timestamp but sure it was in this end 10 minute chunk where he was talking about scouting/data for signing players, that it's important that you apply this to managers as well, a really good manager can still be the wrong fit for a team the same way an individual good player doesn't automatically fit in with the style a club plays.

Seems to have his head really screwed on, well into data based stuff but knows not to get bogged down in it.

COVID season, fans baying for blood and demanding the removal of Lennon and Lawwell.

Solution from the club - announce Lawwell stepping down. Fans lay off. They bring him back 18 months later. Job done.

    * poor transfer window in Rodgers first season fans fuming. Manager let down etc.
Solution - punt Lawwell Jnr. Tell the fans a review will happen.
Never does. At beat Tisdale is appointed in a bridge position of two major roles lacking, but he's not been seen or heard since.

Continued lack of youth progression, player after player leaving the club (doak situation).
Solution - announce a pathway manager position, but just promote from within. Guy leaves within a year.

It's always reactionary stuff to the fans making enough noise, but it's always just nonsense to quieten fans down. Unfortunately enough keep buying it and anyone who says the clubs run *, screams about balance books and domestic success and not wanting to go the way do the Huns.

How about we stop looking at that lot and look at ourselves and how we go forward.
