It's probably time to cash in imo.

A very good defender on his day but always felt he was slightly overrated. Plus his injury record is worrying in recent years.

Fantastic signing though, no doubt about it.

Totally disagree. As a club, we need to move on from that cash in mentality, he is one of the first names on team sheet and we should be doing everything we can to keep him. Imagine trying to replace him-especially given BR's track record with signing center half's? Nawrocki is a decent option as a right sided center half to be back up for CCV. His injury record is a tad concerning but should be manageable-things like resting from those * aweful plastic pitches.
At the end of the day, we dont need the cash anyway, say we get 10M for him, just cannot see us going out and spunking that coin on someone similar that can slot in straight away.
Cannot stress enough the importance of having a strong team going into the CL qualifiers-and like I sain, CCV would be one of the first names on team sheet.

Our record at signing CBs is absolutely honking which gives me the fear.

He’s our third best CB signing in the 25 years I can remember supporting the club behind VVD and Balde

Aye we have an awful record with CBs.

He's quite simply a must keep. If he leaves we will need to sign 3 CBs this summer.

One to replace him, another left sided and I wanted one in to replace Nawrocki/Lagerbielke/Welsh spot.

Ideally I'd keep Nawrocki over Scales but it seems likely the latter will stay.

CB is a very tough position to scout for 90% of them are the same level, dozen a dime (Physical but with the odd clanger in them). There are very few elite ones. One or two errors and they are branded by fans and it's hard to recover the reputation then at a particular club.

Said in rhe suggestions thread there but can see Dara O'Shea being linked particularly if he goes.

Losing CCV, Maeda, Kuhn and Hatate in the one window would be a * nuke. Spine of your team away.

Be very difficult to almost impossible to replace for where we are, what we can attract and how consistent he's been..

From Ireland I think Dara O’Shea would be a brilliant signing. I just don’t think we can afford him.

There are players we could afford to lose. Guys like Kuhn, Hatate are both replaceable, despite how good they can be.

For me, both CCV and Maeda are irreplaceable, should be doing all we can to keep them for another season at least, already going to lose a good few players this summer.

We need to strengthen our team and not weaken it. Loosing CCV, Hatate and Maeda would weaken us greatly and you just know our recruitment team has been pretty * over the years with more misses than hits. If the club is really serious about going further in Europe, as well as dominating the Scottish game, then we need to keep our strongest players (unless they really want to leave the club) and build on it

Another thing to add to this is no only are they irreplaceable to us and almost perfect for how we play, but i actually think we'd be pretty disappointed at the fee's we received for both..

Maeda's probably worth 30 mill to us. His pressing, goals, assists and havoc would see him do well pretty much anywhere he went.....but i just don't think we'd get what the support probably value him at. More likely in the 20 mill region the board would accept i think..

Carter-Vickers as well. A Rolls Royce to us but can't imagine we'd get more than 15 tops..

Think this has been his best year injury wise.

He’s had about 3 shaky games this season. And maybe one before hand. Hilarious that means to some people he’s getting inconsistent.

I just re-read what you quoted, good on his day? His days any that ends in Y. @Lewis Kerr explain yourself man?:56:

Lifting silverware has become a familiar feeling for Cameron Carter-Vickers in green and white as he prepares for yet another Scottish Cup final this weekend at Hampden.

Before moving to Paradise, the defender was making an impression south of the border, with a number of impressive loan spells.

However, the one missing piece of a strong start to his football career was that illustrious first trophy, which came in his first campaign at Celtic Park in 2021.

Of course, the club which he moved to Paradise from that year was Tottenham Hotspur, who on Wednesday evening lifted some silverware of their own by winning the Europa League.

That Spurs team was also managed by the man who brought Carter-Vickers to Glasgow, Ange Postecoglou, who the defender briefly touched upon when asked about that success, as the media looked ahead to Saturday’s cup final.

He said: “It was good to see. I obviously watched the game. It probably wasn’t the greatest from an entertainment standpoint, but it is massive for Tottenham to get a trophy and for Ange as well.

‘He said he always wins in his second season, and he did that. So, I’m happy for him.’

“I think the majority of us enjoyed working with him and wanted the best for him. Their Premier League season maybe hasn’t been great, and that is something they will need to work on going forward.

“But for them to get over the line in a cup competition is great for him and does show what he can do.”

With the focus quickly switching back to Celtic and this weekend's Scottish Cup final, the centre-back has become well accustomed to these occasions.

Having won the trophy the past two seasons, the American internationalist is well aware of what it takes to taste success in the competition

And Carter-Vickers is under no illusions of the task that lies ahead against Aberdeen as he stressed the importance of sticking to the game-plan.

“We know the work is far from done,” he explained. “We still have 90 minutes or possibly 120 minutes to get over the line and get another trophy.

“But for us, we are fully focused on that game now. All of our energy and thought process is going into that.

“It’s about going into the game, having a clear mind-set and playing the game, not necessarily the occasion.

“It’s important to always have an understanding, too, that at the end of the day, whatever is on the line, it’s a football match, which we’ve all played in lots of before.

'So it’s just about sticking to the things that we have done all season.'

“Cup games are unique in the sense that, for whatever reason, it might not always go one hundred per cent to plan.

“We are expecting a difficult challenge and for Aberdeen to be right up for it. So we will have to make sure we are the same.”

The feeling of winning trophies is one that will never get old for Carter-Vickers and his Celtic team-mates.

So when he was asked if winning another Scottish Cup on Saturday would mark his best season at Paradise, it was tricky question for the defender to answer.

With 90 minutes of football still to play, as Carter-Vickers has already stated, there is still plenty of work to be done.

He said: “Different seasons are good for different reasons. Last season, we started out off in front in the league, we kind of got caught up, and then had a bit of a battle towards the end of the season.

“It’s always nice to try and get those leagues over the line.

'But if you are looking at performance wise, I think this has probably been one of the better seasons since I’ve been here.'

“We’ve had progression in Europe, and I thought we had some really good performances in that.

“Then if we win the treble, that is kind of the best you can do domestically.

“Once you have had success and won trophies, and you have that feeling, it is one that you don’t want to let go of.

“It’s a feeling that is hard to describe, unless you've done it, but it’s one that once you have had it, you want to repeat it.”

Have seen him playing for Ireland a fair bit and tbh I don’t think he’s anywhere near CCV’s league.

Days like these, when Celtic and their fans get to go to Hampden with the chance of winning a trophy, and even a treble, may have become more common in recent times. But the idea that they have become any less special as a result is a theory that has been flatly denied by anyone connected with the club.

In fact, Cameron Carter-Vickers, who will take his personal trophy tally to 10 with a victory over Aberdeen at the national stadium this afternoon, says he is still pinching himself that he gets to experience all of this for a living.

When he was younger, he aspired to be a footballer, but never dreamt he would be doing it at such a level. To get here, he was also helped along the way by the selfless dedication of his mum, and it is for those reasons that he will never take such afternoons for granted.

“As a kid, I was never really a massive dreamer,” Carter-Vickers said.

“I just wanted to play football and do as well as I could.

Some of these moments now - cup finals, trophy day, winning the league at Dundee United a few weeks ago - are the moments when you do kind of pinch yourself.

You think, ‘Wow, I am playing football, and I am playing at a very high level and picking up silverware’.

As a kid, I always enjoyed playing football. I wanted to be a footballer. But in terms of being a footballer at the level that wins trophies, plays in cup finals, plays in the Champions League, that was never really something I thought about to be honest.

“I was hoping to play football at any kind of level, not necessarily the level that is at this club.

“I grew up mainly with my mum and nan. My mum used to say to me before every training session I'd to go to just enjoy it and do your best. That was her message for me every time.

“That's my mindset even to this day, to be honest. Every day, every time you get an opportunity to play football, just do your best.

“It might work out, it might not work out on the day, but as long as you know in yourself that you gave yourself the opportunity to perform and give your best, that'll do.

“I was in the Tottenham academy from maybe 11, which was an hour, sometimes an hour and a half in rush hour, away.

“So, three, four nights a week she would take me up there by train or car. It was a big commitment for her.”

And to get to play in such occasions has also taken a big commitment from him, not only in those early days of his career, but as he points out to those who downplay Celtic’s achievements, from the very first day of pre-season back in the summer.

“I think we know, as players and professionals, that as easy as it may look from the outside it's definitely not,” he said.

“The work that we have to put in, right from pre-season, right through the winter months, to end up at this point, now in the season, is massive.

“We know we can never take that work for granted, and that if we want to have these days, like trophy day and cup finals at the end of the season, that work starts way back in pre-season and it's got to continue right throughout the season.”

That humility has been a key component of Carter-Vickers’ success, as well as that of his team.

He did though seem to aim a light-hearted jibe at Rangers back in December, when he was pictured at the darts with his teammates holding aloft a sign that read ‘119’, a reference to Celtic overtaking the trophy haul of their city rivals with their League Cup triumph just days prior.

If they do pick up the Scottish Cup, they will move three trophies clear of the Ibrox side’s total, so can we expect more rubbing of Rangers faces in their success come the final whistle?

I didn't actually write it, it was written by Stephen Welsh, I was thrown under the bus!” he said.

“I was the stupid one to pick it up and hold it up.

“I think this year I'd better [watch] how much I drink, make sure there's no more pictures or videos.

“To be honest, I think when you do win something, you have to enjoy it with the team and the people that you've done it with, because that's one of the reasons we do it, so you have moments like that that you can create memories that will last with you.”

And Carter-Vickers doesn’t seem to be keen to give such opportunities up any time soon either, saying he is settled and happy at Celtic.

    “I enjoy it,” he said.

“I enjoy living in Glasgow, I enjoy the city, I enjoy the team as well. I think that's a big thing for me.

“When I feel kind of comfortable and enjoy coming into a place and being around people that I enjoy being around, that definitely helps as well.

“I think here right now, we've got a good group of players that all get on and all kind of push each other to do better and that's definitely enjoyable.”
