IMHO I think overall they are both at about the same level. Decent center backs but not at CCV's level when he is fully fit. Facts are given the number of games we play assuming CCV stays for next season I would also keep Scales and Trusty and its Nawrocki I would sell and we look for a new center back to buy in the summer.

Trusty was signed to replace Starfelt after Nawrocki failed to meet expectations. Don't think it's fair to hold it against him that he's not at CCV's level (=our best centre half since VvD). Question is, do you think Trusty is better than Starfelt? I don't think he is tbh. The same goes for Scales. He's fairly decent though. I like his physical tools. Ball-playing ability is another story.

I agree! For me they're both grand squad players to fall back on or play in the less important games/see things out. We need a top-notch CB in alongside CCV, with these guys as the squad. I also think these 2 are progressing, so they'll (hopefully!) be better next season too... Use kids in the rest of the slots...

With KT/GT, CCV/Trusty/Scales/A.Nother, AJ/AR as our defence I think we're in decent enough shape... Won't hold against the best of the best, but not many we can afford will...

Shore up mids - CDM, winger, replace any who leave. Get in another clinical finisher. Don't lose too many key players... You know! Just the usual preseason clamour!

I would agree with that from what I have seen so far Starfelt is a better player then Trusty but Trusty is still a decent player and along with Scales are good solid players who along with CCV would make up 3 of the 4 main center backs we would need. I would hope we can sell both Nawrocki and Lagerbielke this summer and use the money we get to sign a center back for that fourth spot.

Why is he not starting ahead of scales? He’s been much better. IMO if he was marking dessers instead of scales we wouldn’t hsbe conceded that goal sunday

Just don't get how he can look so good in Europe yet make simple mistakes domestically.

Thought he was okay mostly apart from their goal tbh.

I think he looks so uncomfortable in everything he does domestically. Can only be a mentality issue when your getting the run around from Simon Murray then keeping clean sheets against Sesko and Atalanta.

Totally agree that it's baffling how good he can look in Europe compared to domestically.

Some people will say that it's because there's a lot more responsibility on him in Scottish football. That he looks more clumsy because he's playing out from the back and clearly isn't overly comfortable with it.

But for me it's not as if he gets caught out doing actions that he wouldn't be doing in Europe. Take today for example when he fails to control a miss-hit shot from Campbell. Directs it straight to Boyle for the opener. Could easily be something that happens in Europe.

Needs to be more alert for me in those kinds of moments. Has a habit of not expecting things he should as a defender. If that was CCV in his position today, for example, it definitely gets cleared.

Hasn't played much recently though so could also have been rustiness in his game. Not convinced by him at all this season. Too hot and cold.

His overall performance was brilliant in Bergamo, everything about it. He obviously can perform at that level, but can he do it consistently? The answer so far is absolutely not. Will probably pan out the same way Julien's career did.

I think it because you get less time on the ball domestically. It’s a quicker tempo. He seems to really struggle with it.

I’d take anything from 4m upwards on him and go again

Aye I think you're right, guy has near MOTM performances at home to Leipzig, away to Atalanta and twice against Bayern yet struggles against Simon Murray and Martin Boyle.

I don't think he's as bad as some make out tbf.

He's shown he can stand firm in Europe. Think he struggles with the pace and physicality here. Although by all accounts was fine in England with Birmingham. EPL a different ask.

Rodgers likes having a left footer as CB in left position and apparently Trusty is quick, I just keep remembering his awful mistakes that lead to goals
