I like him, he's a good squad player for 90% of our domestic stuff, but he's just not good enough for the higher end games... He'll make mistakes, and get punished... Not all the time, and not as much as some people are putting on him, but enough for it to be noticeable and unavoidable...

We need to recruit our defence around that assessment...

Look, in theory I think we all agree... But in reality we are NEVER going to have 3 absolutely top-level players at CB and 2 for every other position on the field... We simply cannot afford, or retain, 22-24 proper cl level players, and then puff out our squad, without a severely unhappy dressing room or financial issues... I think we do ok with having top quality players for every position as is, but could probably get a couple of good signings in as well...

I agree about spending a bit of money and getting a great addition in the CB position. It's just that people saying we should sign a top tier lb (Tierney), 2 CB, DM, RW X2, striker in a single window are * DREAMING!

Just saw the highlights there I know Trusty has his flaws but he is a far better defender than Scales. He doesn’t lose half the headers or his man that Scales does for most of their chances, he certainly doesn’t get done by Dessers at their goal like Scales does.

However, on top of everything else we need to do in the summer, I feel one of those two needs moved on and replaced by someone of a better standard capable of being a main first choice centre back.

Hasn't recaptured his form from earlier in the season. It's not like he hasn't played and played well against Dessers and Co before. He's just hasn't been able to recapture his form after a long spell out of the team.

Don't get me wrong, I personally think Trusty's a better player for most games; but Scales has his uses.

    Slow, weak, ponderous and nervy..

For someone who's supposedly our best header of the ball, he doesn't half lose his man at set pieces or get caught under cross balls. He should be nowhere near our starting lineups..

Spending proper money on a CB to play next to CCV is probably our top priority for the summer. I just don't think Scales or Trusty cut it.

My concern is that if we try to replace Trusty/Scales on the cheap we will just be adding to our long list of average centre halves that are no better than each other. We should be brave and splash a bit of cash on someone at a CCV level.

As discussed previous the lad will never be good enough for what we need moving forward. He was very poor yesterday. Goes to ground much too often when facing up an opponent in our penalty box. We need to replace more than Scales for next season. When we play them again we need strong and full of heart players. Too often we get bullied by Sevco.

Scales was fine for the best part against the Huns, apart from the goal where he was outmuscled by Dessers, he made some timely blocks and tackles throught out the game, and constantly was bringing the ball out of defence and forcing their midfield to retreat from their high line, something Trusty can't do at all. And you also have to give some credit to the way they worked that goal, it was a brilliant dummy by Cerny that would have outfoxed most defenders, and left Scales wrong sided, and if he had tackled Dessers, he would surely have dived for a penalty, Scales was aware of that and it inhibited him. And it can't be forgotten either that CCV has looked far more assured and confident again with Scales beside him, and almost scored himself with that thumping header off the bar.

Thought he was really poor yesterday and I’m a fan. We need a huge clear out of CBs in the summer. Our only solid CB is CCV

He was crap. All the worst parts of his game came to the fore.

No use doing okay with some passes and the odd half decent tackle if he’s culpable for the goal we conceded and lost his man in the first minute at a corner where the huns hit the bar.

CCV looking more confident has nothing to do with Scales playing next to him. He’s played with multiple partners and been fantastic. His dip this season is down to him and his injuries, not his partners.

There’s no defence for that Dessers goal. He actually caught up with Dessers but just got bullied. Weak as *.

Scales is pish. He’ll always give up good chances/goals because he’s not up to it. He’s an Aberdeen/Dundee Utd level defender.

Scales was MOTM in several Champions League games. He had formed a solid partnership with CCV, he was lauded on this forum for his perfomances before Brendan made the decision to break that partnership up ( wrongly in my opinion ), I think you are being unduly harsh on Scales. He was outmuscled by a muscular Dessers in the penalty box, it happens, but the mitigating features still remain, it was a brilliant dummy by Cerny, and if Scales had even touched Dessers, he would have dived for a penalty for sure. What would you have done in that situation ? I think we are all agreed that we need another CB in the summer, CCV might move on in the summer, Nawrocki and Lagerbielke will probably move on, and there is a good chance Trusty will go too. We can't afford to lose Scales, who can also fill in at left back. There is also the possibility that Brendan will use Tierney occasionally as a CB.

Feel like as a support we just go round in circles with him. He's not awful but he shouldn't be a starting CB for us.

Surely everyone can agree that if we have any ambition we need to try and aim for better. We should even be looking to improve on CCV that's just the standard that needs to be set.

Feel like too many fans are content with putting more time and effort into guys like Scales and Yang when we'd be better placed looking elsewhere. Surely.

Aye he's no good enough and you're right on Yang as well. You've stole my thunder as I was about to go in and say the same.....fuckit, loan him out with a view to selling, he isn't to be relied upon and we can get a lot better. We need a lot better than guys like these to kick on..

Just fed up spending time on players who evidently have a very clear ceiling in them. Happily have Scales as a 4th choice squad player but he can't be starting the first game of next season for us.

Just surprised that as many of our fans seem to think him or Yang could be the answer. If they are then I don't want to know the question.

    100%..

A part of me came round to Yang a bit to loan out and see but whether we punt in the summer or loan and punt after, he needs to go..

We need more quality and reliable guys in. These 2 are just a bit too soft for us and lack the ability needed..
